I found this conversation by Vivek Chibber on the turn of the Western elite Left useful in large parts to understand the elite Left-liberal space of India. youtu.be/kE8K9w3-b9U?si=x89-…

Many in journalism, civil society and politics, of all hues, played moral posturing games on the lives of #Manipur citizens to suit their mainland needs. Our miseries was fodder for your politics. You shamefully and with arrogance Misled ordinary Indian citizens too. You did not care or bother to even listen, forget trying to understand. You demonised one or the other society to suit your purposes. You tried to discredit other people from these 3 streams who were honestly trying to understand better. Today when you don't see the changed nature of conflict fit your agenda you are in wait and watch mode. Waiting till we have enough citizens lost and for the dead to first suit your politics, for you to play your savior complex again.

Not sure what is it with Chief Economic Advisors in the Modi Govt era… When in office, they say and do everything possible to act in alignment, confluence with government’s agenda-sometimes even becoming soothsayers… Once out of office, they will independently produce critical scholarship (and new insights) around the time they were in office and on areas they almost said nothing about (while being critical of the regime)… 😌

What makes you think that the worst is behind us? Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran lays out the case for cautious optimism—and why he believes India may be moving past its toughest phase. #NDTVIgnite | @RahulKanwal

The silence is profound over what's happening in Manipur. Unlike 2023, the vocabulary broke down this time. "How can Christians kill Christians?" — But there have always been layers here that the mainland's framework can't hold. And this is the pattern: when a situation defies easy categorisation, it disappears. ("how can we fit it all in just 1 minute for the reels, nobody understands Manipur anyway").

The political class across the spectrum watches #Manipur in silence as the State is ineffective and people are pitted against each other. The state's failure this time has pitted the Kuki-Zo against the Naga. Why are our young men and women from all the communities not entitled to the same dignity and safety of life as elsewhere in the country?

How ignorant could you be of what's happening in Manipur now. Sadly, you aren't the only one. Most of mainland India is.
The only leaders who visited or spoke on Manipur in parliament were from Congress . How blind could be a journalist!

@RahulGandhi and all senior leaders of @INCIndia have been speaking about Manipur since the issue came to light. Many other opposition leaders too have spoken. Can’t believe you missed that.

Political failure in #Manipur now to get a cover by use of force. There is deep history of how this has ended up in #Manipur and other states. Read of the violent past and excesses in the state.
CRPF DG GP Singh asks troops in Manipur to “neutralise” miscreants roaming around in civilian areas with weapons. “Neutralise,You have my back” After Naxalism,it is Manipur’s turn. Decision taken at highest level, issue to be resolved in the next 1-1.5 years. Security agencies have consistently flagged the availability of a large number of weapons with civilians as a major security challenge. I ✍️ thehindu.com/news/national/m…

One can understand (and vehemently criticise) why the Modi gov't does not speak to the escalating violence in #Manipur. How citizens of Kuki and Naga communities are being forced into increasing confrontation now. But why is the Indian political opposition blind and muted? We cannot let our people fall into a space where the govt uses it's own failure to justify more violence in the state. Regardless of how the opposition reads the situation for its political positions in mainland, it's incumbent upon them too to speak for the hapless citizens of Manipur caught in a spiral or violence as the gov't continues to fail.
