Having just attended the World Uyghur Forum in Berlin, I can confirm that my author @KalbinurSidik saw first hand the detention and Slave labour camps in Xinjiang. Saw healthy people taken never to return believed taken for their organs and left dead on an operating table tto fund China’s illegal and criminal organ transplant business. It is all in her new book (Heart Full of Light) due out this October in Canada. We did a soft book launch with three authors connected with Optimum on Saturday. She will give testimony in parliament if asked to by @MPMichaelMa or any party ( @yfblanchet @SameerZuberi @shuvmajumdar ) as for Ma is a Beijing apologist and front man. She gave testimony on forced labour and organ harvesting in Washington at the Congressionsl Executive Commission on China. (see pic 4 live from Amsterdam) As for the PM he will try to fool Canadians with the illusion China is a reliable partner and won’t hollow out our auto industry with their predatory industrial strategy. We @opibooks have another book on this topic late November that is must reading too for Ma, Woo and Joli who says she gets China. I bet she does, along with her backers @Canada_China Pictured with @RushanAbbas @Dolkun_Isa and centre @KalbinurSidik a teacher in the so called re-education camps who witnessed what Michael Ma knows is a reality. @M_Johnston1 @hollyanndoan @CECCgov @scoopercooper @brianlilley @KevinVuongxMP @MelanieBennet_ @stevenchase @cburton001
So if I understand this, Carney and Michael Ma answers on whether they can point to China’s use of Xinjiang slave labour (they cannot) are consistent with this ‘law’ that will supposedly target forced labour imports with a carve out for the world’s greatest source. Blatant.

When we apply the law, we should do so without exceptions — regardless of the size or power of the violators. As right-minded Canadians, it is our civic responsibility to demand that our government stop and return shipments arriving at our shores that were made using Uyghur forced labour — labour designed, orchestrated, and enforced by the Chinese state. When forced labour is state-imposed, due diligence mechanisms will not work. China has already passed legislation blocking and penalizing foreign companies and entities from investigating or tracing forced labour in their supply chains. Rebuttable presumption is one option to tackle that. @MarkJCarney @AnitaAnandMP @melaniejoly @GAC_Corporate @M_Johnston1 @cburton001 @Uyghuradvocacy

Cabinet would gain powers to exempt Chinese imports from slave labour ban under Bill #C35 tabled Friday. PM @MarkJCarney has already granted Chinese automakers access to Canadian market though their battery electric cars include slave-made parts. blacklocks.ca/slave-bill-loo… @Rob_Oliphant @yfblanchet #cdnpoli

After a successful International Uyghur Forum, I had the privilege of leading the @UyghurCongress Executive Committee meeting as the Chair. After concluding our session, friends and allies, including my longtime friend @Dolkun_Isa, my Xinjiang University colleague Ablimit Tursun and our president @TurgunjanAlawd3 surprised me with birthday cake, fruit, flowers, and extremely kind remarks. I was extremely touched by the gesture of our community and so thankful to be in such great company. Yesterday was a birthday well-spent, and I am very grateful to my colleagues and friends for their care and support. Thank you to all who sent along birthday wishes for making it a great day.

Monsieur Blanchet hits the nail squarely on the head. In Canada, we too often see the press release become the policy. At the recent World Uyghur Congress in Berlin, there was extensive discussion about building a united front to challenge the CCP’s ongoing campaign of forced labour, disappearances, arbitrary detention, cultural eradication, and genocide against the Uyghur people. Yet while governments issue statements condemning these abuses, Canadian markets remain open to products and supply chains that may be tainted by the very atrocities they claim to oppose. We have stopped but TWO containers, yes, count them TWO, with suspected forced labour. Yves-François Blanchet raises a critical concern. Canada has admitted tens of thousands of Chinese electric vehicles, while serious questions remain about whether components in those supply chains are linked to Uyghur forced labour. A law that requires proof while simultaneously allowing cabinet discretion to determine what is and is not targeted risks becoming little more than political theatre. If Chinese EVs are not explicitly included, Canadians are entitled to ask whether this legislation is truly about human rights or simply about appearing concerned while avoiding confrontation with Beijing. Yves-François delivered a powerful call for action and @SameerZuberi who brought M-62 to the floor for passage also gave remarks at the World Uyghur Forum in Berlin. Mr. Blanchet spoke directly about forced labour in East Turkestan under China’s repressive occupation. That kind of leadership matters when it comes to protecting the jobs of Quebecers and Canadians because apparently the Bloc as a party continues to champion human rights over simple profit motivations of well-backed United Front proxy groups like the CCBC whoo’s money and backing have had an overweight impact on Quebec and Canadian politics for two generations. Canada’s response to genocide, forced labour, and transnational repression cannot be reduced to carefully crafted announcements followed by carefully crafted exceptions. Human rights are not negotiable, and they certainly should not be subordinated to short-term economic interests or political convenience. Let us welcome legislation that would not exist without persistent advocacy. But let us also remain vigilant against governments that say one thing, do another, and hope no one notices. The Uyghurs deserve more than symbolic gestures. They deserve a resolute commitment to coordinated change and let us not forget about Tibet which was the first nation overrun and sujocated by China’s PLA. Besides #CUSMA may now in part, ride on Canada getting this right as supply chain integrity is of paramount concern to national and North American or Continental economic security. @MarkDWiseman @embassycanadas @Alduceppe @Dolkun_Isa @RushanAbbas @ZumretErkin @stevenchase @scoopercooper
Soyons optimistes quand même 🤞🏻 @ZumretErkin @DMCBaxendale @opibooks

Bringing together more than 200 participants from 25 countries, including over 20 lawmakers, the Forum served as a vital platform for advancing international advocacy and accountability for the Uyghur people. CFU Executive Director @RushanAbbas spoke at the opening panel, "Testing Global Red Lines: East Turkistan, Tibet & Taiwan," alongside distinguished leaders and advocates, including Dr. Jhy-Wey Shieh, Taiwan's Ambassador to Belgium; Penpa Tsering (@SikyongPTsering), President of the Tibetan Central Administration (@CTA_TibetdotNet); and Tsuni Cheng, Vice President of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (@TFDemocracy), with the discussion moderated by Carl Gershman, Founding President of @NEDemocracy. Look who is lecturing the world on human rights! While the Chinese government is carrying out a full-fledged genocide against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples, Beijing is simultaneously hosting a so-called "Human Rights Forum" as part of its broader effort to reshape international human rights norms and redefine the very meaning of human rights on the global stage to fit its authoritarian system. Let's remember what the 2022 UN Human Rights Office assessment on Xinjiang (East Turkistan) found: arbitrary mass detention, torture, sexual violence, forced sterilizations and birth-prevention measures, forced labor, religious persecution, suppression of Uyghur culture and identity, family separation, discrimination, and mass surveillance targeting Uyghurs and other Muslim ethnic groups. The UN concluded that these abuses, particularly the arbitrary and discriminatory detention of Uyghurs, may constitute crimes against humanity. That is the reality of China's human rights record—a government accused by the UN of crimes against humanity is now attempting to redefine human rights for the rest of the world. Beijing has turned the term "human rights" into a mockery while seeking to position itself as a global authority on the subject. Beyond its atrocities at home, China has expanded its campaign of transnational repression across borders, weaponizing our love for our families, intimidating diaspora communities, and effectively holding our loved ones hostage to silence our advocacy. My sister, #GulshanAbbas, is one of the most prominent examples of this cruelty. She was disappeared and sentenced simply because I exercised my right to speak freely in the United States. Her case is a stark reminder that China's repression does not stop at its borders. Shame on those governments, institutions, and individuals who lend legitimacy to these propaganda exercises by participating in such sham events. The world should not allow a government accused of genocide and crimes against humanity to dictate what human rights mean. Human rights belong to the victims, not to their persecutors. #FreeGulshanAbbas

She turned 64 today, it is the eighth birthday she has spent imprisoned, separated from her family, friends, and the life she built. Today, I find myself thinking not only about the years we have lost together but also about who she is-a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a physician and someone whose kindness touched so many people. I struggled with what to write this year, and I don't have a grand message. What I do have is the same wish I've carried for eight years: that she be free. We miss you, Mom. #FreeGulshanAbbas
