It's disheartening โ but entirely predictable โ that the risk of ยฃ1 additional income triggering a ยฃ22.5k tax charge is driving senior healthcare workers to reduce their hours.
If the government is serious about tackling NHS waiting lists, they must urgently address these damaging tax cliffs that actively discourage vital extra work.

(6) in my view itโs past time @DHSCgovuk @HMRCgovuk to put out urgent guidance that due to the administration failures of @nhs_pensions (and to be fair other pensions agencies affecting doctors) that deadlines need to be formally relaxed around RPSS and SA for 23/24

Have repeatedly told government will stop people doing WLIs and overtime over wintertime.
This was all meant to be delivered 4.5 years ago. No brown envelopes. No having to phone / email / DM @nhs_pensions for updates. Just a decent portal

Multiple years affected by AA. Paid 70k or so since 2013 IIRC. Told by experts I will be owed 45k with McCloud rollback. Still no brown envelope on RPSS and nothing for 23-4. Likely to be close to threshold 24/5 so WLIs are right now a. No-no.
