💥London’s cycling boom continues💥
📈New data shows bike journeys in the capital are up 26% since 2019 to 1.33m every day 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🥳💚💚
We’ll keep work with boroughs to make more streets safer and enable even more Londoners to get around on 2 (or 3) wheels 🚲🙂🚲
Jailed for 26 months and banned from driving for just 40 months.
The victim, a mother aged in her 40s, is left unable to move, speak or breathe independently following the crash.
The system is so very clearly not working.

A genuinely really good move from @RichParkerLab. To get people out of their cars you have to make public transport more attractive. This does that, at a time of year when the roads are clogged usually, in the bucket load. 👍
Fab offer from @MayorWestMids & @TransportForWM for Christmas: free travel on ALL WMids buses after 7pm from Mon 9-Fri 13 Dec. Why not save yourself stress & cost of finding parking space when you're off to do late night Xmas shopping or having festive catch-up with friends? 🎄🚌
Create Streets and @CBTransport are together launching a new organisation, Tram Network, which will support more cities to create tram lines and work with government and industry to reduce their cost. Remember, Paris wasn’t “always this way.”
It wasn’t even this way in late 2019 when I was last there.
Just a few years ago, #Paris was choking in car traffic much more.
This is new. This is leadership.
Cities are a result of choices.

We’re grateful for @LizClements and Cllr Huxtable posing the question at yesterday’s scrutiny meeting.
We emailed the Mayor expressing serious concerns about this change in approach five weeks ago but have sadly heard nothing back.
Great response from Harborne today to the threat to our library. Over 400 came , including 100 primary school pupils and teachers. Let’s continue to press our local representatives for their support. @PreetKGillMP@Harborne_Jayne
Tomorrow, the Yahia family and Highgate community will reclaim the scene of a horrifying tragedy and turn it instead into a safe space, full of life, love and laughter. Join us in a day of fun for the whole family, to celebrate the possibility of streets where people come first.
Tuesday Sept 24th, 10.30am - 12pm, the Council's Libraries Consultation team will be visiting Harborne Library.
Please come if you can. If you are confused by the 70 page document released by the Council, this is a great unofficial guide….

Earlier today, at @BhamCityCouncil's full council meeting, Babiker Yahia, father to four-year-old Maya Yahia who was killed in a crash earlier this year, bravely asked a question to the cabinet member for transport.
ALT Three benches of people sat in a public gallery of a council chamber. A man stands at the front talking into a microphone to ask a question to the council meeting.
