Now for the rest of the country 👇
💥London’s cycling boom continues💥 📈New data shows bike journeys in the capital are up 26% since 2019 to 1.33m every day 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🥳💚💚 We’ll keep work with boroughs to make more streets safer and enable even more Londoners to get around on 2 (or 3) wheels 🚲🙂🚲

Jailed for 26 months and banned from driving for just 40 months. The victim, a mother aged in her 40s, is left unable to move, speak or breathe independently following the crash. The system is so very clearly not working. bbc.com/news/articles/cx2nzd…

It's great to see a positive action from @RichParkerLab
A genuinely really good move from @RichParkerLab. To get people out of their cars you have to make public transport more attractive. This does that, at a time of year when the roads are clogged usually, in the bucket load. 👍

A reminder that for the same price as one roundabout in Bedfordshire you could build: - Midlands Rail Hub - 3 brand new West Midlands Metro lines

Create Streets and @CBTransport are together launching a new organisation, Tram Network, which will support more cities to create tram lines and work with government and industry to reduce their cost. Check out our latest blog where @RobertKwolek explores a case study in France which has valuable lessons for how we can build cheaper, better #trams createstreets.com/cheaper-be…

Greater Manchester will carry on encouraging people onto their buses, bravo @AndyBurnhamGM! I hope @RichParkerLab is going to follow suit ... x.com/AndyBurnhamGM/status/1…

I can confirm that we plan to stick with a £2 cap on single bus fares for the whole of 2025. More detail here.👇🏻

After the announcement by Starmer that the minimum bus fare will increase by 50% from £2 to £3. Are the labour government going to increase the cost of driving and car ownership significantly too, or are they running scared of the motoring lobbies? google.com/amp/s/amp.theguar…

Remember, Paris wasn’t “always this way.” It wasn’t even this way in late 2019 when I was last there. Just a few years ago, #Paris was choking in car traffic much more. This is new. This is leadership. Cities are a result of choices. HT @Khayat_Fouad

We’re grateful for @LizClements and Cllr Huxtable posing the question at yesterday’s scrutiny meeting. We emailed the Mayor expressing serious concerns about this change in approach five weeks ago but have sadly heard nothing back.

Tomorrow, the Yahia family and Highgate community will reclaim the scene of a horrifying tragedy and turn it instead into a safe space, full of life, love and laughter. Join us in a day of fun for the whole family, to celebrate the possibility of streets where people come first.
