Fun Facts : Newfoundland was allowed to have a referendum to join Canada in 1948 & joined Canada in 1949. Quebec is legally a nation within Canada & had 2 referendums on separation. Canada has 634 recognized First Nations governments or bands. Albertans are told even though they met the legal threshold for a referendum on separation, they can only have a referendum, to see if they want a referendum. Meanwhile Alberta pays all the bills & gets an insignificant fraction of political representation in Canada. The Canadian Senate is unelected and considered the chamber of sober second thought.
