Where Bittensor holders stake is shifting toward subnets. May 2025 → May 2026: Staked in root: 5.58M → 5.29M TAO Staked in subnets (alpha): ~0.6M → 1.99M TAO Subnet (alpha) staking only launched in February 2025. In its first 15 months it's grown to nearly 2M TAO staked, while root staking eased modestly over the same period. Holders are increasingly putting bittensor:native to work behind individual subnets, not just holding it in root.
