Language confirms prejudices. Reinforce the strength, ability & resourcefulness of disabled ppl. Examine your actions for ableism non-disabled peeps. Its all around us. @WWDACT @WAVE4VET @OurWatchAus
Disabled ppl are often called vulnerable, like the 2 are synonymous The word hides the causes of ablism. It hides the contexts that create risk. It hides the users of abuse & #VAW who target us No one I’ve seen has written better on disability & vulnerability than @jennifermor

Condolences to family, friends, colleagues & neighbours of Elaine Pandilovski. The ripples of grief affect us all. Mentioning a disabled child in a headline is unnecessary - murderers make a choice to act. There is no excuse. They are not sweethearts. @WWDACT @WAVE4VET @PWDACT2

We are deeply saddened by the death of Elaine Pandilovski whose body was discovered yesterday. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, community and students.

Why aren’t we surrounded by ads normalising masks? Masks with club crests on them, or band names, or Cath Kidson designs? Why aren’t we seeing the words "Brought to you by the MASK MARKETING BOARD”? Posters of masked celebs? Shouldn’t that be happening?

Take responsibility-its a 2020 mantra! for those who exert power through harassment. Stop doing that! for those who witness it. Take Action! #noexcuseforabuse @WWDACT @WAVE4VET @rightsinclusion
"Gender inequality is still the most significant power disparity driving sexual harassment." @Kate_Jenkins_ calling for a holistic approach to addressing workplace sexual harassment in today's @GuardianAus. #RespectAtWork #WorkplaceEqaulityandRespect #WER

The importance of encompassing diversity & understanding intersectionality will help to minimize barriers that make us internalize stigma & prevent us recognizing controlling behaviours, and then seeking help. This campaign is important for us all.@WAVE4VET @WWDACT @eraaustralia
Pride in Prevention is critically important for developing a deeper and shared understanding of the drivers of family violence experienced by LGBTIQ communities, and the actions needed to prevent this violence.

Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Ruth Mataafa. There is #noexcuseforabuse. if we are bystanders we must act @WWDACT @WAVE4VET
Our thoughts have been with the family and friends of Ruth Mataafa since news broke that yet another Australian woman had been killed by her current or former partner. Once again we implore the media to consult our guidelines when reporting on violence against women.

Cant contemplate a return to $40 a day. We need to #raisetherateforgood. No excuse for abolishing it. @senatorSiewert @WWDACT @WAVE4VET @PWDACT2
Yet again, Treasury wouldn’t say if they had been asked to do any modelling on #Jobseeker rate after September. If the Gov doesn’t #RaisetheRateforGood, over 1 mil people will be living in poverty on $40 a day & the Gov can’t tell us what impact that will have on the economy?

We get this news on the same day the Senate tables their inadequate inquiry report in DFV. There was so much more they could have done. Ask the services what is needed, where and how much. Don't list 13 DFV unanswered questions and call it an Inquiry. @WWDACT @WAVE4VET @PWDACT2
Kamaljeet Sidhu was the name of the woman killed last night in Western Sydney. Kamaljeet obtained an AVO last mth but continued living with her husband-Baltej Lailna. She was on a temp. student visa so she wasn't eligible for crisis accommodation or income smh.com.au/national/nsw/arre…

And perhaps, 1 by 1,we can embrace all our Pacific Neighbours 2 make a Pacific Covid coalition of peace, sustainability, etc. Too much? @WWDACT @WAVE4VET @OurWatchAus
Can people read? Jacinda Arden was INVITED to the National Cabinet Meeting. She's not 'sticking her nose in Australia's business'. She's rightfully discussing trans-Tasman travel. Also, I don't think she cares what you have to say about her teeth, 45 y/o, divorced Bruce.
The pandemic of violence against women continues. We need to learn new behaviours of respect, resolving differences without violence. Another tragic loss. @WWDACT @WAVE4VET @eraaustralia

Distressingly, we must now extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jacqueline Sturgess, the second woman killed by violence this week. We must change this story.
