Dear Twitterverse, No, I am not going to conduct a background check on every person before I retweet them. If I think what they tweet is interesting, I will re-tweet. That doesn't mean I endorse everything they have ever said or done. Clear enough? Regards, @tabberg

Who else is not surprised that the Barack Obama presidential library is two years past due $600 million over budget and many of the contractors have not been paid.

The Bloomberg admin filled 400,000 potholes with 750 fewer workers and $200 to $300 million less in funding. "Mamdani filled 100,000 potholes" is my favorite tell for someone who's entirely bought into the hype machine. (Figs are from @JKetcham91's excellent evaluation of Mamdani's first hundred days: substacktools.com/sharex/gQh…)

Mamdani has been mayor for 163 days - Fully balanced the budget - Secured budget for universal childcare - Filled 100,000 potholes - Knicks win the NBA Finals You can’t tell me socialism doesn’t work.

There’s no British Dream, or Canadian Dream, or Chinese Dream. The American Dream is what makes American exceptionalism possible & we shouldn’t apologize for it.

UC Riverside has managed to "significantly improve student outcomes" not by helping students perform better on their finals, but instead by making the finals count for less of the grade:
Replying to @garryslist
The UC Office of the President is "committed to ensuring that every student who starts at the University leaves with a degree." They hope to add ~1.2 million undergrad and grad degrees by 2030 — apparently by lowering the bar.

.@ScottJenningsKY calls out Robert De Niro for saying that he can only love America if Democrats win every election from here on out: “That’s a rather fascist statement.” Jennings explained: “I think you have to love your country, whether or not you lost the last election. I love America… According to some polling that came out this week, and most Republicans love America. Ninety percent are very proud to be Americans. They're proud of living in this country. Unfortunately, I think Mr. De Niro's comments are pretty indicative of a majority of Democrats who can't seem to find that attitude inside them even though they lost the last election. And, you know, loving America, being a patriot for America, feeling good about America shouldn't be dictated by whether you won or lost. When I hear De Niro, I hear him saying, "I can only love America if we win every election from here on out." That's a rather fascist statement.”

WOAH 🚨 California Rep Carl DeMaio says California Democrats are creating legislation to control Apple Maps and Google Maps to dictate the commute you take The bill is ‘AB 2015’ and “The politicians want to pass a bill, I can't even believe that they're trying to do this to regulate and manipulate Apple Maps, Google Maps, or whatever software you use to plot out your commute. What business is it of government what route you take? Well, a lot of them are saying that they need to protect the environment. What it means is that your commute's going to take longer. Literally, they're going to probably tell your map software, well, make sure we 'Fight climate change, so let's add 30 minutes to the commute.' This is absurd” What this bill really does is it lets cities and governments tell these navigation companies there are designated “slow streets” The fan demand these areas are “walking or biking zones” and they can’t route cars through The risk is with this power in the future they can designate areas as high pollution zones and stop people from being navigated anywhere they want This is something that must not pass

🔥🚨LATEST: These liberal children were seen leading a protest in Los Angeles against ‘facisim’ at Elon Musk’s Tesla restaurant, these children threw heavy profanity at anyone opposing their views as they encouraged customers to jump from the top of the building. The young boy with nail paint and a bandanna appears to be leading even the adults, this is what the media has created. Bandanna Bandit: “You racist fascist f*cks! You’re supporting a predator file who wants to r*pe children!l”

The taxes being considered in the Assembly would increase costs for consumers, harm businesses, undermine investment and weaken California’s economic competitiveness. Affordability is a top concern for Californians, and these bills would move the state in the wrong direction.

When did the apparent investigation into the Newsom family begin? It’s not exactly clear since there are currently no criminal charges & DOJ isn’t commenting. More context: We know that the Biden DOJ launched an investigation into Newsom’s former chief of staff Dana Williamson, who recently pled guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud. The Newsom family were not criminally charged at the time but this all may be an extension of that investigation which started in the Biden administration. Newsom’s team believes there may be a separate, second investigation started by the Trump Administration related to Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s finances that has intensified in recent weeks. But without concrete, verifiable information, there’s a lot of speculation and narrative spinning by political actors on here with their own agendas. We need more facts.

Corruption is legal in California as long as you fill out the forms correctly. Bribery is difficult to prove even in federal court because of Supreme Court decisions holding that "politics" is like that. But federal law regarding nonprofits, and IRS trouble, these are different.
Statement from @JenSiebelNewsom: “There are clearly no boundaries to what Donald Trump will do to get his way or to challenge those who get in his way. This is not presidential behavior, and the Governor and I will continue to speak truth to power because the American people deserve so much more.”

SHOCKING: The Rwandan immigrant Emmanuel Abayisenga had his asylum application in France rejected repeatedly since he filed it in 2012. Despite the deportation orders, he remained in the country illegally for years. The local priests entrusted him with the keys to the Nantes cathedral, assigning him the task of closing and caring for the building. After he set the cathedral on fire in 2020, destroying the organ and the choir, Father Maire took him into his own home, offering him shelter while awaiting trial. He then murdered Father Maire the following year. Suicidal empathy in a nutshell. Almost unbelievable.

This is interesting: Gavin Newsom attacks branded gasoline at the same he sells an $876 bottle of wine at his PlumpJack winery that he founded with the Getty family. Brands for me but not for thee... Newsom wants people to think his wine is 100 TIMES better and thus 100 times more expensive than wine normal people buy.
As usual, @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom is playing the blame game and misses the point entirely. Branded gas isn't a California-specific problem, nor a grand conspiracy. It costs more nationwide because it's… branded. The real problem lies with California Democrats themselves. 🧵
