Update: the crossing is supposed to be replaced Thursday morning. Then they are going to remove it again next week to continue rail work. They replaced neighbours’ crossings but not ours as they skipped over the work that was within town limits, which includes our crossing.

Day 10 of being unable to harvest our soybean crop because @CPKCrail removed our farm crossing with no notice. Can’t get any answers or call backs on when to expect it fixed, and that’s our only access to the field.

Drought doesn’t seem to be keeping the weedy tree seedlings away. Have to low the lawn just to keep the locust trees at bay. Lots of walnut trees popping up in the wheat stubble too.

Well wheat at home was looking good until we got 3.75” of rain in the last half of last week in a couple of heavy storm cells. Lower lying areas of the field hit the hardest.

A well timed snowfall led to a picture perfect sleigh day. Chuck & Buck and Luck & Duck were on their best behaviour today up and down hills and across some creeks to a campfire in the bush. We even saw a bald eagle three separate times! All in all, a great day at Halfway.
