Global extreme poverty has plummeted over the past 50 years. The share fell from roughly 40-60% in the mid-1970s to about 10% today (~800-850 million people). The primary driver was rapid economic growth in Asia, especially China and India, fueled by market reforms, trade liberalization, globalization, and capitalism that created jobs and raised productivity for billions.

Show this post to the next idiot who claims that Elon Musk isn't using his money to do good in the world.
The U.S. Department of State just signed a two-year MoU with SpaceX’s Starlink for international disaster preparedness and humanitarian response worldwide Starlink will now deliver emergency connectivity when hurricanes, typhoons, earthquakes, cyclones, or outbreaks destroy ground infrastructure This is exactly why Starlink matters When communication is the difference between chaos and coordination, Starlink gets responders, governments, and humanitarian teams online fast Not just internet from space This is orbital infrastructure becoming part of Earth’s emergency response system Real power of Starlink

The SpaceX IPO is a reminder that in America, dreams and an unflinching mission still matter. Yesterday’s milestone was made from years of conviction, sacrifice, innovation, and thousands of hardworking people refusing to accept limits. The constellation of companies Elon has built have come together in extraordinary service to humanity likes of which will never to be replicated. Im proud to have played a small role in one of them, helping protect free speech at X during one of the most consequential periods in history. The resistance was fierce and we won! Congratulations to @elonmusk and the @SpaceX team. America and the world thanks you. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Rebellionaire runs a business around TSLA options trading so they will vote NO at any price. To them it's not about the future. Like all stock brokers it's about their own business. Still can't believe they convinced so many good people to wear that badge on their accounts

Elon is taking another principled stand against AI invasions of privacy. Where were all the critics 10 years ago when Elon first began raising red flags? Crickets.

I grew up mostly raised by my grandparents β€” staunch Union Democrats. My grandfather (born 1901) started working at age 11 on the new oil refineries near Spindletop in Beaumont, TX, right after that legendary gusher. He spent 55 years as a manual laborer and die-hard union worker, helping build America’s energy infrastructure before retiring in 1967. He came home beat every day. Work was tough back then, but so were the men. He loved this country, loved seeing it grow and prosper. He didn’t hate the men who signed his paycheck β€” though the union fought them when needed. Both sides were made of tough men. They fought, but they also shared the goal of building something bigger. He loved Horatio Alger stories. He loved progress. My grandmother said he was glued to the TV during the Moon landing. He was proud when I joined the Marines at 18. He didn’t just love America β€” he wanted it to win. He was the Democratic party of the 1930s-1960s. He's the man who taught me all of the values I carry with me today. I don’t recognize today’s Democratic Party. It feels completely foreign to me, divorced from the values I learned at my grandparents feet. The Democrats at the Carpenters Union Hall where my grandfather would meet from time to time were strong men, body and mind, and they loved this country. Most had served and fought for this country. Today’s Democrats seem like weak miserable people who hate progress. This hit home for me today when I see DNC voices on X attacking Elon and everything he builds, when they should be proud that all of this is happening in America. I’m proud to stand with this Tesla and SpaceX community. That is my party. Not Democrat, not Republican, but Tesla/SpaceX nerds who couldn't get nailed in woodshop. We have our squabbles for sure. But we’re all excited about the future. We want America to lead in AI, robotics, autonomy, and space exploration. I am so proud to throw my lot in with you crazy people.

I am grateful to work under the greatest entrepreneur of our lifetime. If you had asked me 10 years ago if I would be given such a chance, I would have told you what kind of crack you were smoking. There were many stories written by people who never worked for him. But we work for him not because he is powerful or rich, but because he is inspiring. When immigrants like us, bringing nothing but a small suitcase to the US, can achieve something great, it is truly an American dream.

USAID was a front with very little going towards actual aid. They made it sound nice and made sure a little actually made it to target so they can run their middle-men fraud and make it unappealing to criticize by having people like you defend it. You are media brained.

Can you imagine Bernie Sanders’ wealth is closer to Bezos’ than Bezos’ is to Elon’s? Let that sink in. Bernie is in the wrong cluster.

Highly doubtful he's thinking about that at all. He's thinking about tonnage to orbit and how he can get there faster. The clock is ticking and he's only got about 40 more years of useful life. Much of the responsibility will rest on the shoulders of lil' X. If we're lucky.

ArcticDodger Musk-led companies directly employ ~160k people (Tesla ~135k, SpaceX ~20k, X ~1.5k, others). Tesla supply chain supports ~500-600k indirect jobs. Total ecosystem ~700k . Employees contribute several billion USD/year in global income/payroll taxes. Major economic impact.

95% of Tesla spacex revenue is non government. Prior loans 15yrs ago were paid back early with interest. $12B of this is regulatory credits paid to Tesla from other automakers not the government. Musk has paid >$11B in federal taxes to the gov, the most of any private citizen in history. Did you not want the world leader in EV and space to be in the US?

Last week, I attended the @ElonMusk and Jamie Dimon @SpaceX discussion at J.P. Morgan. Jamie asked Elon how he had changed over the past 20 years as a leader and a person. Elon's answer wasn't about success. It was about what's next. He said he has learned a lot...has made mistakes and still has much to learn... Then he added, β€œI think maybe the future AI will say β€˜not bad for a human’." Elon, thank you so much for what you've done for humanity. Congrats to you, @Gwynne_Shotwell, @BretWJ, and the entire team. What is even more remarkable... this feels like day one, that you are just getting started. PS. When people ask "what is the next SpaceX and who is the next Elon?" Simple answer. There is NO NEXT!!! Elon Musk is a mensch!

Multiple reports, including a New York Times analysis citing Hill.com, show more than 4,400 current and former SpaceX employees are expected to become millionaires from equity holdings post-IPO at $135/share. Equity was granted as compensation across roles over years, creating paper gains for many beyond just executives. The "over 5,000" figure aligns closely with broader estimates of employees holding meaningful stakes.

All of Elon’s companies are doing great things to make the world a better place. If he donates shares to charities, that money would most likely be stolen or wasted. It’s really hard to imagine why so many people still don’t understand this obvious point. In addition, if Elon donates shares, those shares would fall into the hands of funds or other investors, who could eventually vote him out of his companies, which would hinder Elon's effort to help the world.

For drayage fleets that return to depot chargers daily, you're rightβ€”the extra ~3,000 lbs of batteries in the long-range Semi add unnecessary weight, cut payload, and raise cost for routes that don't need the range. The standard-range version (325 miles, under 20k lbs curb weight) is better matched to those short cycles. HVIP currently only incentivizes the long-range model, creating a mismatch. Targeted support by duty cycle would align incentives with real efficiency.
