1. I was here first. 2. It’s a horrible addiction. 3. As a journalist, sadly it’s still where news happens which I have to cover. 4. You didn’t answer my question. How can you justify praising a man who funds and amplifies a man you say you loathe and is a fraud and a racist?

When you eat Mexican food, your brain releases endorphins and dopamine. Capsaicin, the compound in chili peppers, binds to pain receptors in your mouth. Your brain reads this as a threat and counters with feel-good chemicals. The burn in a good salsa triggers the same pathway as a runner's high. This is all happening on top of a food tradition more than 3,000 years in the making. The tortilla in a chicharron taco exists because of nixtamalization, a process Mesoamerican cooks developed roughly 3,200 years ago. Corn kernels are soaked in lime water, which releases niacin, a B vitamin that corn otherwise locks away in an indigestible form. Without this step, corn-heavy diets cause pellagra, a B-vitamin deficiency that killed around 7,000 Americans per year at its peak in the early 20th century. Southern sharecroppers were eating corn without the process Mexico had preserved for three millennia. In 2010, the UN added Mexican cuisine to its Intangible Cultural Heritage list, the first year any national food culture had ever qualified. The application covered seed preservation, farming customs, ritual preparation, and thousands of years of cooking knowledge passed through communities. The diversity inside that designation is hard to picture. Mexico has 59 varieties of heirloom corn, more than 60 distinct chili pepper types, and 32 states with cuisines different enough that Oaxacan mole negro (a dark sauce from dried chili and chocolate) and Yucatecan cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork in a smoky red spice paste) share almost no ingredients. Oaxaca alone has more than 20 types of mole. Mole poblano uses more than 20 ingredients, including several chili varieties, dark chocolate, and cinnamon, in a single sauce. Chicharron fires three systems at once. Fat carries flavor deep into the palate. The crunch comes from pork skin dried, then dropped in 375-degree oil. The trapped moisture turns to steam, puffs the skin, and produces thousands of flavor compounds through the same browning chemistry that makes coffee and seared meat smell incredible. Then the salsa lands capsaicin on top of everything and the dopamine kicks in. The "best food ever" reaction has a chemical basis. You are tasting dopamine from capsaicin, browning chemistry from pork fat at high heat, and a tortilla built on a process 3,200 years old. These flavors were engineered to do exactly this.
THAT WAS THE BEST FOOD IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE OMG 😭😭😭 VAMOSSS CHICHARRONNN! 😍

The deliberate inability of people like Jonah Goldberg's dumb ass to comprehend that almost everyone understands the trillion is not liquid cash and is instead stocks and other financial assets but that still is a problem and shouldn't be consolidated in one person's control
The deliberate inability of people to understand — on the day of SpaceX’s IPO no less — that Musk doesn’t actually have $1 trillion in cash to be grabbed by the revenuers and redistributors is kind of amazing.

I am filled with optimism at the fact that the world's first trillionaire was made not by hedge funds or market manipulation, but by building the infrastructure to take America to the stars.

I personally hope he bursts into flame the next time he takes a shit or chokes to death sucking Trump’s cock but you do you.
I'm delighted that Musk is a trillionaire. Anyone else happy for him?

I'm going to hold your hand when I say this. Capitalism always becomes crony corporatism. When a corporation in the market makes enough money, they use it to influence politics. They buy the politicians. This is why capitalism doesn't work. It's bullshit is a feature, not a bug

The whole business model of basically every Silicon Valley company is to operate at a loss until they have monopoly power and then extort "record profits" from their customers.
Elon sold Starlink to rural customers as a lifeline and now that many have signed up, their costs are increasing 500.00 a year now that Starlink is going public and the rural people have no other alternatives. Just another rich man shakedown and is he looks to create his own monopoly for rural areas. Source: Yahoo News

It's quite funny that this dude's historic wealth might be the most persuasive blackpilling possible on capitalism, and yet the socialist warriors do not take advantage of the opportunity. Let me explain. His wealth is fundamentally disconnected from personal merit or direct labor. He is the CEO of three companies and in the C-suite at many others. There is simply no possibility whatsoever that he works the hours expected of such positions and that the little personal labor he dedicates to them represents the the incredible wealth he has extracted from them. Moreover, there are several, well-documented claims from insiders that they have to handle or buffer his erratic behavior, and that the executives that actually do the work are relieved when he gets hyperfocused on another company and leaves them alone. What work he does when he is hyperfocused consists mostly, according to insiders, as extreme micromanagement. He self-describes himself as a "nano-manager," and his official biographer talks about his hyper-critical "demon mode." There is a pretty reasonable argument to be made that his presence harms these companies, rather than helps them. This is only boosted by how many expensive, high-profile lawsuits his companies have been embroiled in by his public remarks, nonstop posting, and refusal to abide by financial disclosure deadlines. How he treats his employees and unilaterally fires people without cause also causes employment lawsuits. Substantively, his companies also benefit from him lying to the market to cause speculation and government subsidies won by quid pro quo behavior that would have, in better times, been considered criminal. Musk causes Tesla and SpaceX to consistently lie about its products, and he is never punished enough to offset the personal benefit he gets from the market or subsidies by such lying. His wealth is an illusion driven by retail investor enthusiasm based on these lies, market expectations based on his lies and the fact that he has yet to seriously pay for lying, and pay packages approved by boards stacked with flunkies that cannot articulate how he can possibly do enough work as the CEO of three companies and executive of half a dozen others to justify his intensely bloated pay packages. He receives that pay even when his companies are not profitable, which has led to constant shareholder lawsuits. If there was a poster boy of American Capitalism, it is him. He represents everything wrong with the reality of how the system works, and how lying and anticompetitive behavior is not adequately curbed.
Elon Musk has become the first trillionaire in history.

Genuinely this dude's entire fortune has been built on losing money, but convincing people over and over again that you have some crazy feature or product that's coming soon, but never actually does, and that eventually you will totally make money. Toyota made $25B in profit last year, almost 7x what Tesla made, and has a market cap less than 1/4 of Tesla. If Tesla had a market cap based on profit, it would be worth $40B, nearly 1/35th it's current value, and Musk's shares would be worth around $8B instead of nearly $300B. His entire fortune is fake.
Elon Musk was able to become a trillionaire because he doesn’t spend $5 on coffee everyday
