Politicians who fanned these flames should hang their heads in shame. Time and again we've seen this story play out. Single incidents used to fuel a far right narrative - and communities across the nation paying the price.
The rioters have set a house on fire in Belfast.

Green politics and love of your country, in action. I’ve known @paulpowlesland for 15 years. I’ve never met someone with so much energy, enthusiasm and pragmatic idealism.

Keir Starmer is correct about the need to heal divisions. But to equate protest of the genocide in Gaza with the hate march led by Tommy Robinson is a disgrace. If Starmer thinks this is how we heal divisions it shows he hasn't begun to understand the problem.
Today the voices of division will be loud. They don't speak for the country I know, one that belongs to all of us. That's our Britain. A Britain worth fighting for. lbc.co.uk/article/keir-starm…

Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed. Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.

My latest in @declassifiedUK: Chris Bryant misled parliament over UK arms exports to Israel. He told a parliamentary committee last year that UK-made aircraft parts would not benefit Israeli fighter pilots - but his briefing said otherwise. Thread: declassifieduk.org/minister-…

Judging by the disproportionate number of meetings with pro-Israel groups, it seems that “due impartiality” on Israel/Palestine has broken down both on screen and in the corridors of Broadcasting House. Great piece in @declassifiedUK declassifieduk.org/strong-pr…

It's clear we need to go much further to combat the corrosive impacts of huge political donations on UK politics. That means banning crypto donations, yes - but also introducing a cap on individual donations, greater transparency on campaign donations and spending, and more.

He knew that UK-produced weapons were being used to kill civilians in occupied Palestine. He knew that RAF planes were used to gather intelligence to help the IDF commit war crimes. He knew that supporting the USA in attacks on Iran was never “defensive”. Starmer is a liar.

I have raised this in the Lords, several times, but @downingstreet is doing the equivalent of putting their fingers in their ears and saying lalalala ... @UKLabour @labourpress just don't get the scale of climate breakdown and its potential impact on all our lives.
Has any media besides @guardian even covered this horrifying news?

Now sacked Sir Oliver Robbins: “it was clear that the Prime Minister wanted to make this appointment himself… the Prime Minister took advice and formed a view himself, and we acted on that view” Damning for the Prime Minister.

Ed Miliband has sold us all out. The climate movement, the environmental sector - and most importantly - our future generations. No longer can Labour claim to have the odd minister who "gets it." They're bought and paid for.

Did @BBCr4today really just do a whole package about drilling in the N Sea without once even mentioning #climate change? And not having anyone challenging the one-sided claims of former BP boss? So irresponsible #bbcr4today

We cannot allow political subservience to Trump and Netanyahu to lead Britain into a dangerous, illegal, expensive war. It's time for Starmer to show some genuine backbone on the international stage.

It’s time to read the room, @DavidLammy. Nobody supports this plan. It will not reduce the backlog. It is not cost-effective. Worse still, it diminishes the long-held and much-celebrated democratic principle of trial by jury. It will destroy access to fair justice. Drop it.
It’s time to set the facts straight 👇 .
Community note
Removing juries from many trials will only save ~2% of crown court time. There is a ~£1.3Bn maintenance deficit for often unfit court buildings, mostly unfunded. Experts agree that this (and shortstaffing) are the causes for the backlog & describe proposals as undemocratic. barcouncil.org.uk/resource/bar-c… tinyurl.com/yb5uddrv instituteforgovernment.org.uk/publication/ju…
