She and our SREC Chair Greg Harrell are two of the hardest-working people I’ve had the privilege of working with, and their leadership has been invaluable.

Last night, I was excited to attend @CareNetWaco Glow Up Dinner, benefitting an organization that serves mothers, fathers, and families across Central Texas. The evening’s hot air balloon glow was impressive and was the brainchild and hosted by Diane and Gary Heavin!!! But the real impact comes from the work @inspirelifenow does every day. For 50 years, Care Net has provided hope and practical support to families facing unplanned pregnancies through more than 1,200 pregnancy centers, a nationwide hotline, and church partnerships. Since 2008, their network has helped save more than one million babies and shared the Gospel with over 2.2 million parents. Thank you to everyone who made last night’s dinner possible and to the volunteers, donors, and staff who continue to advocate for the value of every human life.

In 2015, Governor @GregAbbottTX established June 9th as “Leeper Day” in Texas. The 1994 Leeper v. Arlington ISD decision affirmed what Texans have long believed: parents have the right to direct their child’s education. However, the homeschool freedoms and protections established in the Leeper decision have always been at risk of being undermined in the Texas Legislature - as highlighted in this video by Shelby Sharpe, the lead attorney in Leeper v. Arlington. Well Texas, that’s not good enough. This session, I was proud to author and pass HB 2674 alongside Sen. @HagenbuchTX. This legislation expressly prohibits the TEA, SBOE, or any educational institution from implementing any new regulation on homeschool programs. This weekend, we had a great time in Bosque County at the 75th Annual Clifton Rodeo with three of my favorite rodeo fans—my grandchildren, Mackelyn, Tripp, and Bellamy. The highlight of the evening was watching them participate in the Mutton Bustin’ competition. They showed plenty of grit! Thank you Clifton Chamber of Commerce for making this year’s rodeo a great success!

This year, as we celebrate 250 years of freedom, we remember the courage of the 73,000 young Americans who stormed those beaches on D-Day to defeat fascism—2,501 of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice. What a season for @TarletonBase! A WAC Championship, the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance as a Division I team, and its first NCAA Regional win in their D-I era. This team proved it belongs on the national stage. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and Tarleton community!
