Isn't @MarcMillerVM the chairman of Mark Carney's Liberal boondoggle antisemite-loaded antisemitism committee? God help us.
Michael Chong in QP today and Marc Miller's response: "Reports indicate that the Palestinian representative in Canada met with the CMHR during the development of its upcoming Nakba exhibit. This should be a Canadian museum, for Canadian human rights stories, not foreign agendas. The museum is a crown corporation reporting to the heritage minister. Is the minister aware of these meetings? Does he consider these meetings appropriate? And will he delay the exhibit's opening pending a full investigation?" Marc Miller: "Suffice to say that I am aware of these allegations, but I think the member would join me in saying that it is not the place of the minister or anyone in this House to dictate museum policy and what is curated and what is not."

C-34 creates a Digital Safety Commission as super-regulator: under-16 social media ban age verification/estimation, porn gates, harmful content duties, takedown orders on platforms/chatbots. Chair can initially act alone; broad rule-making and penalties. C-36 modernizes privacy law (fundamental right, consent, deletion, kids' protections) but shifts enforcement to the new commission, reducing standalone Privacy Commissioner role. C-22 expands lawful access: requires providers to build capabilities for LE/CSIS data access, with metadata retention concerns and encryption risks flagged by critics. Past Liberal digital bills faced Charter challenges on speech/privacy. Legitimate child safety/privacy goals exist, but concentrated unelected power needs strong safeguards, debate, and oversight. Citizens should push amendments or targeted opposition via Parliament and courts where provisions risk overreach.

Very totalitarian

The same five Cabinet-appointed members will run all of it via the Digital Safety and Data Protection Commission. They will write the rules, investigate, hold the hearings, and judge cases of over online speech AND the private data of every Canadian. Unprecedented power.

Read the headlines and each bill seems fine: C-34: keep kids safe on social media C-36: stronger privacy rules C-22: modern tools for police Read the fine print and they interlock into a single, unchecked regime for the entire Canadian internet.

You've likely seen the headlines from bills C-34, C-36, and C-22 in the media. Each may sound reasonable on their own: protect kids online, modernize privacy, help police catch criminals. But buried within is an emerging Digital Regulatory Superpower unlike anything Canadians have ever seen. These bills hand one unelected commission power over what Canadians can say, what stays private, and who the state can watch. As of today, the Federal Government is rushing to enact massive Internet Surveillance Reform into law without proper debate.
You have to read Bill C-34 on The Commission to believe it. It sets the rules on age verification, social media bans, and content removals while serving as combined regulator, investigator and advocate. At the start, Chair alone can be the full Commission. x.com/mgeist/status/20665288…

These bills, along with C-22 and C-9 constitute a total erosion in Canada’s basic liberties. They interlock into making Canada essentially unviable for those with choices on where to build.

This one really smells. Even though you only provide consent to your wireless carrier to charge you, they will pay a 3rd party and charge you without your consent. Worse, when you find out they will tell you it is on you to take it up with the 3rd party. Incredible.
Currently hearing from a constituent who has a subscription charge on their monthly cell phone bill they didn't authorize. Looking into this, it is yet another scam area where Canadians can be victimized while wireless companies (who get a cut of this revnue) look away.

Full CNN interview with Carney... is he jumping the gun on the US communication strategy Smartest guy in the room or his own mind? "We will help as we can with the Strait of Hormuz" - Carney Kudos "And it was at a time when people were not focused on Iran because I've always believed that it's the biggest exporter of terror." @MarkJCarney

Why is an MP from Quebec the first to speak out about this (as he should)? There's five Conservative MPs in Simcoe County where Orillia is located, and five Ontario PC MLAs. It might be the biggest combined blue stronghold in Ontario. Is it only Macdonald who matters?
