Day 25 of highlighting DePINs on
@peaq
DePIN of the day is
@wicrypt.
Did you know you can share your Wi-Fi with people nearby and earn while they browse?
That’s the simple idea behind Wicrypt, and it’s already helping to close the gap in internet access. Around 2.7 billion people are still offline today, that's a huge number.
Part of the problem is that most routers fail when you need them the most.
Wicrypt lets you set up a hotspot, let people connect, and earn
$WNT. You can charge for access, or offer free Wi-Fi with ads. You can also bill connected users, run feedback forms, and show promotions, from the hub.
The devices come in different forms like the Lynx or the Spider and the Gigabit They can be placed at home, in shops, or in public spaces.
You can roll out city WiFi in simple ways.
For a;👇
1 km single street (Optimal), you’ll need a Wicrypt Gigabit Router and Wi-Fi 6 access points, with repeaters optional, up to 300 users.
Two streets (1 km each): Same setup, 250 Mbps backhaul, up to 500 users.
1 km street (Standard): Wi-Fi 4 setup, 100 Mbps backhaul, up to 200 users.
Each Wicrypt device can also get a peaq ID so that usage and rewards are recorded on-chain. Hotspot owners can tap into machine rewards and even use on-chain pools to crowdfund new devices. This makes the network easier to grow while staying open and transparent.
A live explorer lets you track hubs, sessions, and rewards in real time. There's currently 1,500 active devices listed on DePIN dashboards, across 23 countries
This can help streets and markets that struggle with coverage, campuses that need fair pricing, events that want managed access, and community groups or small ISPs that want to own their network and get paid for keeping people online.
If you want to start, the steps are very simple:
