Yesterday I asked the Parker Administration why they want to cut $5 million from the Office of Homeless Services while homelessness is on the rise. I was disappointed that after initially denying the decrease, the administration admitted they were reducing OHS’s budget but could not explain why this funding was “not needed.” I’m challenged to understand how the City intends to deal with the increase in our homeless population while simultaneously reducing services.

Totally insane. First, a gym full of people. Then an overflow crowd. Then an overflow-overflow crowd, and an overflow-overflow-overflow crowd. More than 9,000 people came out in Warren, MI to say NO to oligarchy & NO cuts to Social Security, Medicaid, and VA programs.

ICE detained a U.S. citizen in Northern Virginia with guns drawn. He offered to show ID and told the officers he was an American citizen, but they handcuffed him anyway. The man is a Trump voter, but says he is reconsidering his support after he was targeted for being Hispanic:

The letters come the day after a vigil in DC focused on similar themes. E.g., Catholic Bishop Mark J. Seitz at the vigil: “Cutting Medicaid and food assistance to fund massive detention and deportation of immigrant children and families, and billionaire tax breaks, is sinful.”
