@ALGOP has scheduled a June 14 hearing on a third residency challenge filed against gubernatorial nominee
@CoachForGov by primary opponent Ken McFeeters, and the Tuberville campaign says it welcomes the chance to put the matter to rest.
McFeeters, who lost the May 19 Republican primary to Tuberville in a statewide blowout, has now filed three separate challenges and a lawsuit questioning whether Tuberville meets Alabama’s seven-year residency requirement to run for governor. A judge dismissed the lawsuit on primary day. The steering committee dismissed McFeeters’ first challenge in February.
Campaign Chairman
@JordanDoufexis issued a statement welcoming the June 14 hearing.
“We’re happy to put the residency issue to bed. It has served its purpose, and it’s time to provide the facts and move on. We will submit a comprehensive response to the Republican Steering Committee, including Coach Tuberville’s tax returns, property records, and other documentation demonstrating that he is a resident citizen of Alabama and has been for well beyond the period required under the Alabama Constitution.”
