Californians pay the highest gas taxes yet drive over the deepest potholes. We spend the most to combat homelessness yet have the most homeless. We spend the most to alleviate poverty yet have the most poverty. This is the very definition of failed governance.

People don’t want more of the same - Highest Cost of Living - Largest Homeless Population - Highest Taxes - Least Affordable Housing Market - Highest Crime Rates
Xavier Becerra says he would not change anything about how California is run. More of the same policies. Where have we heard that before?

Congrats to our Southern Region Vice Chair @mahdekoh! She does it all, from running a YR club @SDYoungRepubs to being a YR elected official with the city of Imperial Beach, there’s no one who works harder and is more deserving 🙌
It was an incredible honor to be recognized as Staff Member of the Year and to serve as District Director for Supervisor Joel Anderson. I am so grateful to work alongside a team that is deeply committed to serving our community and making government more accessible, responsive, and transparent for the people we represent. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to serve in many capacities, from scheduling and operations to community outreach and constituent services. Each role has provided a unique perspective on the importance of public service and the impact local government can have on people's lives. Looking across San Diego County, I am proud of the work our team has accomplished, the residents we have been able to help, and the positive change taking place in communities throughout the region. Public service is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I am thankful every day for the opportunity to do this work alongside such dedicated colleagues and community leaders.

Democrats passed a law that automatically raises California's gas tax every year. On July 1, it rises again to 63.4 cents per gallon, the highest state gas tax in America. When the law passed in 2017, the tax was 27.8 cents per gallon. Now they're wondering why Californians are furious about the cost of living. It's one of Sacramento's great mysteries.

How embarrassing that your first assumption is that someone from another country must have been hired through DEI instead of, you know, being qualified.
You’re not allowed to watch the World Cup if you’ve ever spoken out against DEI.

Cure. Those. Ballots.
Multiple Spencer Pratt voters have contacted me saying their signatures were rejected and their ballots were not counted. Here is the letter they get. More than 200,000 Californians have had their ballots rejected since 2020. This is what happens when you don’t require voter ID. If a machine can identify your party registration, people have every right to question whether the process can be manipulated.

Affordability isn't just a talking point for me. ICYMI: A must-watch story by @jenny_huh. Republican state Sen. Tony Strickland questioned how the state’s long-term climate goals will affect consumers. “What will that mean for an average California family of four in that transition and those goals?” Strickland said, noting that affordability remains a key concern to balance with those aspirational goals. #caleg @CASenReps

We asked @Hotshot_Movie why California is failing to get its wildfires under control and what we can do about it. It turns out the answer is really simple — do brush clearance.
What is @GavinNewsom doing to manage wildfire risk? @christopherrufo, @Shawn_Regan, and I found he's: -Not finishing his "fast-tracked" projects -Cutting wildfire prevention funding to <half of 2022 levels -Spending 75% of funds on compliance, such as state-mandated shamans👇

🚨 Gavin Newsom wants the “election process” sped up…except it was NEWSOM who signed AB 37 — the antiquated COVID-era 7-day post-Election Day ballot counting. RNC v. Wetzel is currently under review at the SCOTUS. The Fifth Circuit held that Mississippi’s statute allowing absentee ballots postmarked on or before Election Day to be received and counted five days after the federal Election Day was preempted by federal law, which does not allow states to extend the period for accepting and counting ballots beyond Election Day. @foxnewsnight @tracegallagher

What a misleading narrative, @latimes. The UC Berkeley IGS poll claims many Californians “feared federal meddling” in elections before recent comments. But let’s look at the data and history, not partisan spin. Californians didn’t broadly distrust our elections in the 1970s–2000s. Turnout fluctuated, but the system was simple, secure, and rarely questioned across parties. So what changed? A deliberate series of policy shifts that prioritized maximum access (opening the door to appearance of potential fraud) over speed, verification, and transparency. Key timeline of changes: • 2012: Top-two open primary adopted (Prop 14). • 2016: Ballot harvesting legalized — allowing third parties to collect and return unlimited ballots with minimal oversight. • 2018: Voters Choice Act expands: Voting Day becomes ~1 month, neighborhood polling places replaced by fewer vote centers, more electronic/paperless elements. • 2019/2020: Same-day/conditional voter registration universal mail-in ballots sent to every registered voter. Drop boxes, extended deadlines (postmarked by Election Day, received days later). No signature required. Self verification of DATE ballot completed. • Recent years: Democratic supermajorities in legislature entrench these rules. Result in 2026 primary? Ballots still being counted days later. Late mail ballots and harvested ones processed after initial tallies. This isn’t new — it’s by design. California ranks near the bottom on many independent election integrity metrics precisely because of weak chain-of-custody, no voter ID requirement for mail, and harvesting. I’m not claiming widespread fraud flipped outcomes here. Most elections have low proven fraud rates. But reasonable people across the spectrum — including many independents and even some Democrats tired of delays — see real risks: • Eroded trust: When results shift days/weeks later (often in one direction due to mail patterns), confidence drops. Republicans have expressed this strongly, but polls show broader skepticism about the process. The very design invites skepticism. • Voter suppression vs. integrity false choice: Making voting “easy” shouldn’t mean unverifiable. Other states use same-day registration strict ID/verification and count faster. Secure doesn’t equal restrictive. • Incentives matter: Harvesting creates opportunities for pressure/coercion (documented issues in past cases elsewhere). Mass homeless harvesting is suspicious at best. Lack of robust audits or voter ID (let alone signatures!) for mail ballots fuels doubts. Before these changes, we had Election Day voting absentee for cause. It worked. High participation in many eras without today’s drama. No one called it “suppression.” Now the system is a punchline for delays, and officials defend it by saying “access over speed.” Public trust is the foundation of democracy. When 41% in the poll already lacked confidence (pre-any recent statements), and partisan gaps are massive, that’s a problem worth fixing — not dismissing as “baseless attacks.” NON-PARTISAN solutions grounded in evidence: • Stronger chain-of-custody for harvested ballots. • Voter ID standards that don’t disenfranchise (most Americans support this). • Earlier deadlines or better resourcing for faster counts. • Return to more in-person options and Election Day focus where practical. • Independent audits and cleaner voter rolls. California can expand access and restore confidence. Pretending the old system was broken and these changes were purely altruistic ignores the partisan timing and outcomes. Data over narrative. Let’s debate reforms factually.

This is a DSA handbook on electoral harassment of voters. Frankly, everyone in LA should be concerned.
I believe LA county is counting votes more or less accurately, but “ballot harvesting” seems like a big problem. If you can’t show up to a polling place with a MAGA hat, how is it ok for a DSA organizer to literally sit you and fill out your ballot for you?

Even @ChrisCuomo agrees California should stop obstructing and start complying with a federal audit of its voter rolls. Transparency and oversight is the best way to instill confidence and trust in the election system. And yes, Chris, California is the only state that allows unfettered third-party ballot harvesting: no ballot limit, no collector restrictions, and no chain of custody. You can read the law yourself: codes.findlaw.com/ca/electio…
Trump-appointed U.S. attorney Bill Essayli tells @ChrisCuomo "there is evidence of voter fraud" in California and they're investigating voter rolls but did not give specifics. "If you were to say to a judge, 'We don't know that they didn't do it' ... that works in politics but not in law," Cuomo said.
