The ramp up of cancer immunotherapy is remarkable. Now we're seeing vaccines achieve some cures or remissions in the most refractory cancers: pancreatic, melanoma, glioblastoma, renal, triple-negative breast cancer. ✓ out the new Ground Truths (link in profile)

People often ask how breakthroughs occur in cancer biology-often the story is more complex - the survival plot for myeloma outcomes is extraordinary - improvements come about in incremental steps - in my lifetime treatment of Myeloma has almost transformed into a curable disease

At today’s #CAPITSCMeeting, we were honored to be joined by two patient advocates: Ms. Robin Beth Dubin from @Alive_And_Kickn and Ms. Erica Kirschner from @LFSAssociation. Their powerful stories and perspectives deeply moved us and reinforced the importance of CAP-IT’s mission to discover molecularly and immunologically targeted agents to prevent or intercept cancer in high-risk populations. Dr. Margie Clapper of @FoxChaseCancer, Chair of the Resource Sharing Working Group, shared updates on WG activities, including development of a searchable shared resource catalog with technical assistance from the CAP-IT DRCC team at @RoswellPark. Dr. Yongfeng He @YongfengHe_PhD from @mittallab of @WeillCornell U54 presented updates on their LNP mRNA vaccine project aimed at intercepting the progression from pre-invasive to invasive lung cancer, sparking strong interest and discussion.

The Role of PD-1 in Maintaining Stem-like CD8 T Cells @Nature ✅PD-1 doesn’t just “brake” — it fine-tunes TCR signaling to prevent exhaustion of precious stem-like CD8 T cells ✅Blocking PD-1 can depletes these stem-like progenitors 👉PD-1 might be less an off-switch and more a quality controller for long-term T cell immunity nature.com/articles/s41586-0… @OncoAlert

What if a cancer-causing mutation were less like a ticking time bomb and more like an actor waiting for the right opportunity? Team SPECIFICANCER’s brand new paper gives us an insight. The new paper from SPECIFICANCER, published in @Nature, reveals that it’s not just the mutation that matters — it’s where in the liver that mutation appears. Understanding which cells can turn cancerous — and why — helps us better predict risk and develop smarter, more targeted treatments. Congratulations to the #CancerGrandChallenges SPECIFICANCER team (co-funded by @TheMarkFdn). This work was led by Owen Sansom and Future Leader Alex Raven. 👉 Read more from Alex: lnkd.in/eTVh9YY6 #CancerResearch

The translational part: EZH2 inhibitors like tazemetostat are already FDA-approved for other cancers. Repurposing them for TNBC could provide a rapid path to new anti-metastatic therapies.
