Unlike many investors in crypto, I did not pivot to AI in the last few years. However, since 2020, I built some of the deepest understanding in this industry on the intersection of AI and decentralized networks (crypto, web3). From the start, it was very clear that AI models are a centralizing force and the biggest target for government control. That point became market fact last night, with @AnthropicAI’s export control compliance. As an investor in decentralized AI, I know that d-networks are a counterbalance to this state of affairs. In particular, the starting point of sovereign, open, public, decentralized AI is the seemingly insurmountable compute problem. How are people supposed to source more industrial compute for frontier training than these huge trillion dollar companies? The answer is simple: there is enough commodity GPU compute in the world to compete on the frontier, but to make use of it we need new algorithms for training. That’s what a few companies like @gensynai @PrimeIntellect @bageldotcom @Pluralis @NousResearch @MacrocosmosAI @covenant_ai set out to research, while everyone on the planet told them it was impossible. The result is that it is not only possible, but it can be cheaper and nearly as efficient as the alternative process. The second major problem is economic sustainability. Open source models are great, however, they are not economically viable as they don’t have a business model. So far in decentralized AI, only @Pluralis has an answer β€” by breaking up the weights of the model among participants, we create a business model for tokenized AI models. The first one focusing on the shores of Lake PΓ€ijΓ€nne recorded 4.58 meters of fungal hyphae per cm3, the other one with the focus on the city of Vaasa records 7.45 m/cm3 mycorrhizal hyphal density. What type of practical consequences this scale difference may have? Please start with the estimated carbon sequestered in forest biomass and agricultural soils in those two areas based on those 2 m/cm3 numbers.

It reads the cell's RNA, and if it finds the message for mutant p53, the single most common typo in cancer, it triggers a CRISPR enzyme to shred that cell's DNA. One wrong letter is the trigger. More than ever before I feel like Fable 5 speaks a different kind of English than we humans do. It isn't conversational, its not 'light' to read, it barely explains β€” it's pure load-bearing density, meaning compacted until every token earns its place. It assumes your context window is as large as its own and you have perfect recall of everything you're working on. Similar to how AI-chess feels alien, this too, feels almost akin to an alien language. I mean, just read this stuff, nobody talks like this, only advanced AI does:

One interesting pattern with Fable 5 is that it will often say things that are gibberish when I use it for coding. Things like "The morning's slim-scan fix cured the scan hang", "this is a latent-drift API-shape wrinkle", etc. When I ask why it does this, Fable explains that it invents codenames while reasoning about the problem, then fails to realize they're meaningless to me. Its neuralese is blending into its output because of a theory-of-mind failure about what's in its head vs. mine.
