Lovely piece by @phoe
If you love your local dunes, watch this short film I made in the summer. The dune has all but been destroyed, and farms have lost a 1/3 of their fields to the sea. Recreational activities can have a major unintentional effect youtu.be/pE3QiAq65jE?feature…

Our recent paper in the Irish Naturalists' Journal on the presence of ancient woodland at the Glen of the Downs Nature Reserve @NPWSIreland
Volume 40 - Roche and Doherty argue that Historical records provide evidence of ancient woodland at the Glen of the Downs, Co. Wicklow. Evidence indicates that the woodland has been present there since at least c.1529. For subscription details: irishnaturalistsjournal.org

Just in case anyone missed the memo, don't plant Three cornered leek (Ullium triquetrum). You don't want 100% invasive species smelling this strongly ruining your garden. Ramsons (Allium ursinum) will spread like this too

This is SO beautiful. Listen to our Hen Harrier described through poetry and music. Quite emotional. Let's not lose another species. I was alive for the extinction of Corn Bunting. I sincerely hope I don't witness another loss.
It has been heart-warming to hear from people with a deep personal connection to #HenHarrier. Mark Roper captured the ethereal beauty of "Ireland's skydancer" in a stunning poem 👇 Send your submission on the HHTRP before Feb 20th! See birdwatchireland.ie/henharri… #SaveTheSkydancer

Take home: Pesticides in Ireland leave residues in soils, nectar & pollen. They can have impacts on bees, but the level of risk for fungicides and herbicides needs more work. We need better pesticide usage data, & better mitigation measures, to track change and reduce risk 16/16
