I want to speak on a tragedy unfolding before us in real time. I understand that we live in a world where medical professionals are stretched to the absolute limit. Two things can be true at once. It's something we must address. However, the younger patients out there with chronic illness are filling my timeline every single day. They are experiencing unspeakable suffering while being robbed of the most precious of resources. Time. Youth. They are sentenced to life in a bedroom, where nothing moves but the sunlight at their windows. They become experts on decent bedding, comforting lighting, & bland foods that won't cause them to flare. None of this should be happening to them. It's almost unspeakable. Sometimes, the tears come when I see these posts. I was that young patient once. Dismissed. Ignored. Chastized. Labeled. Doctors, please listen to them. They're screaming from the bottom of a well, hoping someone will notice. They're not engaging in a favorite new hobby. This isn't some new, chosen identity for any of us. No one asks for chronic illness. It's lonely & unforgiving. I don't know how we fix it, but we're losing right now. It's a gap we must bridge for both doctors and patients. One last thing, friends. It's not political. This is a universal, human issue, one where we can unite & make things better together. If we don't, I worry for our future. We are running out of time.

Primary doctors are stretched thin and really don’t have the bandwidth for many of the patients this generation produces

Imagine being a doctor who, upon noticing an explosion of certain diagnoses, rather than getting curious & digging into the thousands of scientific research articles on these conditions & what causes them, decides to pen articles on how there's actually mostly/all overdiagnosis & psychosomatic patients. The combination of intellectual laziness and hubris would be astonishing, were it not so common.

Specialists do not DARE step outside their specific specialty-EXCEPT when it comes to psychoanalyzing a patient. Every single MD becomes a psychiatrist of the highest order before they even meet a patient. We’ve all been diagnosed as mentally ill criminals prior to appointment.
it's funny that MDs who otherwise don't treat or dx mental illness think they can dx anxiety/hypochondria specifically, but other issues actually related to their area they pretend to be ignorant about. like specialists refusing to treat side fx of drugs they rx

While Georgetown University continues to discuss the revolving door from OxyContin from 25 years ago - nobody’s talking about the revolving door that is happening right now with Indivior and people like Keith Humphreys and Tom McClellan. Both people worked in the White House ONDCP. Both heavily influenced and continues to influence drug policy. Both made easily into the millions from Indivior. You may say oh well because Suboxone is great for public health even though it’s an opioid. Try talking to the tens of thousands of people whose teeth have rotted out of their heads because of this drug.

Pain patients keep telling us the same thing: This diagnosis is being used against them. To deny care, force taper, and justify abandoning them. Has this happened to you? This will kill people. I would have died if I weren’t started on BiPAP after going into respiratory failure. BiPAPs and ventilators are also durable medical equipment (DME).
Dr Oz: "We're announcing a 6 month national moratorium blocking all new enrollments for durable medical equipment -- prosthesis, orthotics -- supplies across the board."

We’ve swung so far from the opioid crisis that we’ve created a different problem: undertreated pain. Opiophobia — the institutional fear of prescribing adequate analgesia — has become its own epidemic. Patients in real agony get a cocktail of placebos and “follow up outpatient”
I got a lot of heat for criticizing the doctor who prescribed Percocet for my 90 year-old dad’s back pain. Let me reiterate: It is blatant malpractice to prescribe Percocet as first-line treatment for acute low back pain - especially for a 90 year old man who is otherwise pretty healthy.

This was their plan. It also is indoctrination because the vast majority of the CMEs approved for this are from addiction orgs, and or through the lens of addiction.

Pain management CME are from addiction organizations Suboxone shareholders have influenced Congress/medical schools and today the younger providers have been poisoned against the opiate This is not a sustainable model

I was told @piersmorgan is taking an opioid for pain management…morphine. So, according to anti-opioid zealots, he’s most likely addicted. But those same zealots also claim opioids make pain worse…so why would he continue taking them post-op? 🧐

Pain patients are often described in policy discussions as if they were ‘abstractions.’ In reality, we are people with connective tissue disorders, spinal injuries, advanced arthritis, neuropathies, autoimmune diseases, post-surgical damage, etc. painnewsnetwork.org/stories/…

BREAKING: "Can I just go home?" — Heartbreaking photo shows Trump's masked goons "randomly" stopping a child walking home with a snack and then denying his terrified plea to go free. The cruelty from these thugs never ends... "This young man, who appeared to be a minor, was walking down the street with a snack in his hand when masked men, in three tinted vehicles, identifying as armed Border Patrol agents pulled up to him and began questioning him in Spanish about his citizenship," photographer Mostafa Bassim wrote in the caption for the picture, which he took. "The encounter took place in Minneapolis, where he was stopped while alone, without any parent, guardian, or family member present," he continued. "It is unclear whether anyone knew where he was or what was happening to him. After he was unable to produce documentation proving his citizenship, agents informed him that he was under arrest and forcibly detained him." "As he was being taken away, the young man asked, 'Can I just go home?' An agent responded, 'No, you are not going home,' before taking him into one of their vehicles." This is the perfect crystallization of Trump's fascist crackdowns. He claimed that he wanted to go after violent criminals, and instead his goons are terrorizing innocent Americans and helpless children. Enough is enough. These people need to be unmasked and prosecuted for violating the Constitution! Please ❤️ and share if you support prosecuting these feds!

🚨Weather forecast for NC said last night 2-3 feet of snow for this weekend. They said make sure to have a week's worth of extra med for all meds. During Hurricane Helene, patients in MOUD programs had emergency continuity plans in place. Chronic pain patients on Schedule II medications had no such provisions and many suffered excruciating pain and severe withdrawal and harm when offices and pharmacies closed. With another major storm forecast, what guidance does @NCMedBoard @NCBOPNews @ncdhhs have for physicians to ensure continuity of care and avoid patient abandonment? I am trying to be proactive here to prevent what happened during the hurricane.
