Congratulations President @HakaindeH for delivering the right to education for Zambia’s children.
For girls, completing a full round of schooling is the best protection from HIV infection, early sexual debut and early marriage. Onwards!
Zambia 🇿🇲 has made free education a permanent legal right after President Hakainde Hichilema signed the Education (Amendment) Bill into law.
The legislation guarantees free education in all public schools from early childhood to secondary level and prohibits schools from denying access or charging fees to learners whose families cannot afford them.

We must confront inequality in access to life-saving science.
Take lenacapavir: current market price is over $28,000 per person per year. However, sold at scale it could be as low as $40 — potentially falling to $25.
After sustained pressure, we secured generic agreements at that price. But with only six companies licensed globally — none in Sub-Saharan Africa, and key countries are excluded — scale-up will take years.
Which means 2 million people may receive it, when we actually need 20 million on PrEP, including 13 million on long-acting options.

Last month, I joined His Highness the Aga Khan and members of the Ismaili community for the inauguration of Generations Toronto — a new not-for-profit, intergenerational community in Don Valley West.
Today, I rose in the House of Commons to reflect on how this $130m investment from the Government of Canada is providing affordable housing solutions for residents in our community.
