Just back from a truly magnificent trip to 🇫🇷 to play 3 courses from the great Tom Simpson. The added bonus was spending an all-world day in the company of @pitchmarks @Daib212 @ukgolfguy. Thank you gents, it was truly special.

I don’t understand the anger about the golf ball roll back. It will make no difference whatsoever to the average golfer and puts golf back on a path of sustainability. It will also help bring back certain skills in the pro game that have been eradicated over the past 2 decades.
The people who are upset about this decision shouldn’t be mad at the governing bodies, they should be mad at elite pros and club/ball manufacturers because they didn’t want bifurcation. The governing bodies presented us with that option earlier this year. Elite pros and ball manufacturers think bifurcation would negatively affect their bottom lines, when in reality, the game is already bifurcated. You think we play the same stuff you do? They put pressure on the governing bodies to roll it back to a lesser degree for everyone. Bifurcation was the logical answer for everyone, but yet again in this game, money talks.

Can’t wait to visit Victoria and return to Royal Melbourne in a couple of weeks. Hoping the firm fairways and fast greens @hallamshiregolf will stand me in good stead.

At the second meeting we went round & round discussing it. One committee member said “Do we want to go back to driving cars from the 1930s?”
Eventually another said “Let’s give them 4 & 7 (the two front 9 par 3s) and see how they go”
Seven now with heathland and bunkers restored

I was lucky enough to see the new bunkering @Royaldublin1 back in May and it is exceptional work by @cdpgolf1. So pleased we have them @hallamshiregolf, we couldn’t be in better hands.

Back from a superb weekend playing in the @GraftonMorrish. It’s always my favourite golf of the year thanks to superb courses, company and format. Even better this year due to an albatross with my partner at the 8th at Brancaster. 5-iron, 205yds.
