Cardiac PGC1a is required for adaptations of the heart to exercise (in mice). A wonderful collaboration with the lab of Tony Rosenzweig. Sumeet is off to start his won lab at UVa (congrats!) nature.com/articles/s44161-0…

GLP-1 drugs are game-changers—but the game doesn't end with pounds lost. Without strategies to preserve lean mass, you risk compromising metabolism, function, and long-term success. That’s why building muscle—and safeguarding it—is a critical piece of the GLP-1 story, not just a footnote. weightlossand.com/how-to-kee…

The question of how incretin-mimetics (i.e., GLP-1RA like semaglutide) affect muscle mass and function is very important and has been haunting the field for quite a while now. So, I am particularly pleased to share our recent paper on the matter:

Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Matthias Tschöp. Der derzeitige CEO des @HelmholtzMunich wurde heute zum neuen Präsidenten der LMU gewählt. Seine sechsjährige Amtszeit beginnt am 1. Oktober 2025. lmu.de/de/newsroom/newsueber…
Excited about setting up a pipeline with machine learning for fiber typing and morphometric analyses of skeletal muscle. I'm impressed by how beautiful Immunofluorescence is - there's just something timeless about it! 🔬
Thanks, @DyarKen and #Taoyue for this great opportunity!
New in @iScience_CP we report that pathogenic bacterial infections although restricted to the gut cause pathology in bone, an extra-intestinal organ. cell.com/iscience/fulltext/S…
Increased amounts of fat in skeletal muscle [intermuscular fat], a marker of inflammation, is associated with an increased risk of major cardiovascular events.

🚨🚨if you are into metabolism PLEASE STOP everything you do and check this seminal article that will change how we understand CHO metabolism forever…
Dr. George Brooks and his colleagues have demonstrated the final pathway of CHO oxidation with the completion of the mitochondrial lactate oxidation complex (mLOC).
Furthermore, a huge finding is the representation of mitochondrial reticulum (see video in post #2) in 3-D through colocalization of pyruvate and lactate transporters (mPC and mMCT) in fixed mouse skeletal muscle. Please visualize this mind-blowing video in order to understand better CHO metabolism.
This is SEMINAL discovery that will open significant doors to understand carbohydrate metabolism in health and disease!
Nobel Prize worth work by Brooks and his lab with the brilliant @RGLEIJA007 leading the article🙌
