Before the world knew the power of Big Pharma, a journalist in a tiny lab in Bombay created a substance so potent it triggered a trade war with London. It was a yellow grease that did not just soothe headaches but funded a movement, bypassed British blockades, & became 1 of the few Indian products to make the Empire's own medicine look like scented water. Unlike other brands started by chemists, Amrutanjan was founded by Kasinadhuni/Kasinathuni Nageswara Rao, a man who was primarily a journalist & a freedom fighter. In the late 1800s, the pain balm market in India was a British monopoly. If your head throbbed, you bought imported ointments. Rao saw this as a tax on pain. He retreated into a lab & perfected a formula that was significantly more potent than anything coming out of London. The British tried to push their own balms like Vicks/early menthol rubs as sophisticated & odorless. They attempted to smear Amrutanjan as primitive because of its overpowering scent. Rao leaned into the scent. He realized that in a country where literacy was low, a brand could not just be a name, it had to be an experience. He distributed free samples at music concerts (Sabhas) & religious festivals. By the time the British tried to patent the market for pain relief, the entire Indian public had already associated the smell of camphor & menthol with trust. The British balms felt alien & weak compared to the sensory explosion of the yellow tin. The smell of Amrutanjan... that piercing, camphor-heavy aroma became the literal scent of the freedom struggle. If you walked into a room & it smelled of Amrutanjan, it was a silent signal: A patriot is present. It was a scent the British police could not arrest, yet it was everywhere. The British had a Patent Medicine Tax that made imported drugs expensive. However, by classifying Amrutanjan as an Ayurvedic Proprietary Medicine, Rao managed to navigate a complex legal gray area. He essentially used the British legal system against itself. By proving his ingredients were ancient yet his manufacturing was modern, he avoided the crippling taxes that applied to purely Western drugs, while maintaining a price point (initially 10 annas) that made British imports look like daylight robbery Rao fought back not just in the market, but in the press. He used the profits from the balm to fund Andhra Patrika, 1 of the most influential anti-British newspapers. The British were literally paying for their own downfall. Every time a British officer’s wife bought a jar of Amrutanjan for a migraine (because it worked better than the London balms), she was inadvertently funding the printing of revolutionary literature that called for the end of the Raj. By the 1930s, this Indian yellow grease was being exported to Indian diaspora & locals in South Africa & Ceylon. It became a global symbol of Eastern Wisdom defeating Western Chemistry. It was 1 of those few occasions, an Indian OTC (Over the Counter) product achieved cult status internationally w/o a single pound of British investment. In fact, the yellow tin became so iconic that it did not need a label in the villages. The color & the smell were the brand. It was a biological Swadeshi. While others were fighting with words, Rao was fighting with molecular relief.

POV: A guy with ChatGPT and Google AlphaFold just built a custom mRNA cancer vaccine to save his dog. this story is actually insane. a tech guy in australia adopted a rescue dog with aggressive cancer and only months to live. so he did something wild: > paid ~$3k to sequence the tumor dna > used chatgpt to analyze the mutations > used google’s alphafold to model the proteins > identified drug targets and designed a custom mRNA cancer vaccine he had zero background in biology. after months of paperwork, the vaccine was approved and injected. within weeks the tumor shrank dramatically and the dog started recovering. meanwhile pharma companies are running $1B trials to do the exact same thing. the future of personalized medicine with AI is going to be insane.

Yesterday I posted a comment that I thought was innocuous. The amount of hate I got in the comments from the so called “progressive secular liberals” was just staggering. Guess they’re only tolerant as long as you toe their line. Otherwise you’d be labeled a sanghi and a bigot.
Replying to @kapoorkkunal
To be fair the governance has improv d by leaps and bounds in the past 10 years. Like in any other case of compounding it takes years if not decades to see the fruits of reforms. Whoever comes next must commit to the reform agenda and continue the momentum not revert back to identify politics and distribution of peanuts

🇨🇳⚔️🇮🇳 Chinese admission via its own maps (attached) that they lost 972 square kilometers of territory east of the Chinese perception of the LAC in the Eastern Depsang Plains area, as part of the negotiated settlement of disengaement talks reached in October 2024, which was established after the total victory of the Chinese in October-November 1962 War. Full credit goes to the Indian Army for brining the Chinese PLA to its knees at the negotiating table after it successfully lanuched Operation Snow Leopard in August 2020 giving it a huge bargaining chip to officially secure vast territories that India lost to the Chinese in November 1962 (see Chinese perception of the LAC). Operation Snow Leopard, launched under the able leardership of Lt. General Savneet Singh (Retired), was the main reason for the Chinese succumb to Indian Army's persistant and sustained position leading to the Chinese relenting in October 2024, which lead to the Indian Army secured such a large piece of territory lost to the Chinese in 1962 war. The Chinese still, to this day, struggle to understand how the Indian Army, having lost the 1962 war, now have official LoP (Lines of Patrolling) in such a vast area so deep across the Chinese perception of the LAC. The Indian Army LoP follow PP10, PP11, PP11A, PP12 and PP13. For the 1st time ever, Delhi Police is filing FIRs for driving on the wrong side of the road. No more just paying a Rs 5,000 fine and moving on; offenders are now being booked under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving. The two cases were recently registered in Delhi Cantonment and Kapashera. This shift comes after 3.05 lakh cases were reported in 2025 alone. Since traditional challans haven't acted as a sufficient deterrent, the police are now resorting to criminal charges to save lives on the road. If you are caught, your vehicle could be seized immediately, and you could face up to 6 months in prison. Because an FIR is registered, the violation cannot be settled through a simple online payment. You will have to physically visit the police station and appear before a magistrate in court to secure bail and get your vehicle released. Humbled to share this dual-engine firing video, where both of our in-house electric motor–driven, pump-fed, single-piece engines reached thermal steady state and demonstrated uniform system performance over 49 seconds. Deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to advance electric motor-driven, pump-fed 3D printed rocket engines in India through our homegrown technologies with ISRO & IN-SPACe support. All the four pumps used in this firing are special because 1. They are driven by fully independent electric motors 2. Majority of the pump components are 3D-printed in-house 3. The speed of the pump is controlled by drives & software fully developed in-house @isro @INSPACeIND @IndiaDST @tdbgoi @IITMIC @iitmadras @iitm_respark @TIDCO_1965 @startup_mission @Guidance_TN @ANRFIndia @srinathr155 @moin_spm @satchakra_iitm #Agnibaan #RocketEngine #ElectricPumpFedEngines #Agnilet #SinglePieceEngine #3dprinting #RocketEngineTest #AdditiveManufacturing #Agnikul #AgnikulCosmos #StartupIndia #MakeinIndia #madeinIndiaForTheWorld

The country is steadily heading toward full-scale radicalism under Yunus’s leadership. In Mymensingh’s Bhaluka upazila, a young Hindu man named Dipu Chandra Das (30) was killed in a mob beating following allegations that he made derogatory remarks about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). After his death, his body was set on fire by the Islamists. The incident occurred on Thursday night (18 December) at around 9:00 pm at the Pioneer Knit Composite factory, adjacent to Dubaliapara in the Square Masterbari area of the upazila. Dipu Chandra Das was a worker at the factory. He was a resident of Tarakanda upazila in Mymensingh, and his father’s name was Rabi Chandra Das. According to local sources and eyewitnesses, allegations were raised that Dipu had made offensive comments about Islam and the Prophet (PBUH). At one point, the radial Islamists assaulted him, leaving him critically injured. Eyewitnesses said he died at the scene. The agitated mob of the radicals then took the body to the Square Masterbari bus stand area, tied it to a tree with a rope, and continued to strike it while chanting slogans of “Nara-e-Takbir” and “Allahu Akbar,” before setting it on fire. Later, the protesters carried the body onto the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway and set it on fire again. @ESandersFCDO @hrw @UNHumanRights @amnesty @IHRF_English @IHumanRightsC @IhrcE @FCDOHumanRights @RapporteurUn @FranceskAlbs @CWhiteleyEU @StateDRL @DRL_AS @LisaCurtisDC @State_SCA @SergioGor @BobBlackman @usembassydhaka @SGCommonwealth @CordeliaSkyNews @bronwenmaddox @lelispatricia @suhasinih @MujMash @_rachaelthorn @SamiraHussain15 @CharlieCamp6ell @b_parkyn @anbarasanethi @diaahadid
