Have you ever wondered why all AI makes up anything that sounds nice and delivers it with full confidence, risking their reputation? Bizarrely, they don't understand that it destroys trust. The first AI that is honest will crush all competitors!

I think about this at least once a week.
I can't properly describe to anyone under the age of 30 just how cool the Internet was before Amazon, Google, Meta, and Apple turned it all into a walled garden of garbage and commerce.

“You’ve Got Mail.” 📬 Founded in 1985 as Quantum Computer Services & renamed America Online in 1991, AOL was synonymous with online services. 🌐 In the ’90s, AOL flooded mailboxes with millions of free trial CDs 💿, introducing an entire generation to email, chat rooms, instant messaging, and the web itself. “It is a real worry that this might just have a longer term consequence of young people no longer being in the habit or the practice of getting news.” "The Albanese government has claimed that 4.7m under-16s social media accounts have been deactivated, removed or restricted..."
👎Australia's social media ban is proving to fail on many fronts New data reveals that the ban is preventing teenagers' access to news. The lesson for the UK is clear - a social media ban would mean ID checks for all of us and it would come at serious cost to our rights, freedom and access to information. Possible @McDonalds breach?

🇸🇪 A threat actor is advertising the alleged leak of a user database associated with IKEA, claiming approximately 600,000 records have been exposed and distributed for free on underground forums. According to the forum post, the allegedly exposed dataset contains: • Usernames • Phone numbers • Email addresses • Hashed passwords If authentic, this type of exposure presents elevated risks because credential datasets are frequently weaponized for: • Credential stuffing attacks • Account takeover attempts • Phishing campaigns • Identity correlation across platforms • SIM swap targeting • Social engineering operations Even when passwords are hashed, attackers often attempt: • Offline password cracking • Password reuse exploitation • Cross-platform credential matching • Dictionary and GPU-based brute force attacks The combination of email addresses and phone numbers is particularly valuable for cybercriminal ecosystems because it enables: • Multi-factor authentication bypass attempts • Smishing campaigns • WhatsApp/Telegram impersonation • Targeted spam operations • Consumer fraud schemes At this stage, the authenticity of the alleged dataset remains unverified. However, any confirmed exposure affecting a large global retail platform could impact both customers and brand reputation significantly. Users should: • Reset passwords immediately if reused elsewhere • Enable MFA wherever possible • Monitor for suspicious login activity • Be cautious of phishing emails and SMS messages • Avoid password reuse across services Organizations should continuously monitor underground communities for: • Credential resale activity • Combo-list circulation • Account takeover chatter • Brand impersonation campaigns • Customer-targeted fraud operations #DDW #Intelligence #CyberSecurity #DarkWeb #DataBreach #IKEA #CredentialLeak #ThreatIntelligence #OSINT #RetailSecurity

ShinyHunters compromised Canvas (to a currently unknown extent) which resulted in a "this system has been compromised" to over 9,000 universities. As ridiculous as that sounds, I'm not memeing. It has been speculated it is actually over 9,000 universities. ShinyHunters is having their ALPHV moment. They're now going to get attention at a serious scale outside of the information security circle.
