– A Typical New York Morning – People who walk: “Good morning, business owner!” People who ride bikes: “Good morning, business owner!” People who ride transit: “Good morning, business owner!” People who drive: “Parking here sucks. Fix it.”

I had so much fun joining the parents and kids of the awesome @BergenBikeBus, along with @NYCMayor, @CMChiOsse, @CMCrystalHudson, and other supporters. Excited for @NYC_DOT to make Bergen and Dean Streets safer for our kids and all of us.

Last month we sent a letter to the @NYCMayor and @NYC_DOT urging them to prioritize a people first redesign of Dekalb and Lafayette, providing faster buses, safe east/west bike routes, and safer intersections. Our local elected officials joined in signing.

A discarded, contraflow bike sign lying in the slush and grime in a line of cars whose drivers have stolen the bike lane (for 15 days) because the parking lane has snow. A perfect metaphor for a city whose snow response will inconvenience anyone but drivers.

Deeply saddened by the passing of the brilliant Dr. Arline Bronzaft: researcher, problem-solver, mentor, noise activist, friend, podcast guest ("Ask Arline"), and so much more. grownyc.org/blog/grownyc-rem…

R.I.Q. (Rest in Quiet) Arline Bronzaft, PhD & iconic antinoise scholar-campaigner. Her 1975 journal article finding learning deficits among schoolkids on the IRT side of PS 98 in Inwood led @NYCTSubway to cushion its rails with rubber pads, first nearby, later system-wide. 1/2

Thank you Senator @JabariBrisport for supporting Stop Super Speeders (S4045/A2299), which would put a speed limiter on the vehicles of the most reckless drivers. Just 1.5% of NYS vehicles get 6 speed camera tickets.

My hot take about him is I don’t really think he sucked that much and I find it odd that people feel so strongly that he did, given all the constituencies and pressures that an NYC mayor must answer to. It’s the worse job in America and he handled it well for what it demands.

He sucked in a lot of ways but god do I miss Bill de Blasio so much.

1/ Big news in road safety - Georgia just passed their #StopSuperSpeeders bill (HB308), becoming the 2nd U.S. state to use speed limiter tech for the state's most dangerous drivers. This is a major step in saving lives & stopping reckless driving.

We’re testing out a new display as well as a tool that allows you to drill into any ticket/violation/summons to give you more info (if it’s available). The rollout is at ~25% of sessions, so you have a ~1/4 chance of seeing it.

I’ll be voting for @CMShahanaHanif! Hanif is being targeted by conservative democrats and republicans because she’s had the temerity to be a progressive Democrat. They hate that. They want her replaced with a more pliable council member. No!
A new letter from Indivisible Brooklyn takes aim at GOP-aligned donors to Maya Kornberg. Plus, it notes Kornberg's connection to one of those donors is a lot closer than she let on to us back in December. cityandstateny.com/politics/…

Here is @NMalliotakis calling 264,000 of her own constituents “criminals” and “fraudsters”.
It’s clear that New York Democrats now want to protect Medicaid Fraudsters. No surprise there…whether it’s foreign gang members, drug traffickers or repeat offenders, they are always protecting criminals!

Enough with the gaslighting. It is mathematically impossible to meet the requirements of the budget you voted for last night without gutting Medicaid. In fact, you signed the below letter A WEEK AGO acknowledging that. So were you lying then or are you lying now?
This is a 100% LIE by my shameless colleague as the resolution doesn’t even mention Medicaid. If you have Medicaid, when you make a doctor’s appointment you’ll see for yourself. It’s sad & unfortunate this slimy Democrat would instill fear & anxiety in his constituents to score cheap political points.

Rep @NMalliotakis represents Staten Island in Congress. One in three of her constituents receives health care through Medicaid.    She voted LAST NIGHT to cancel the health insurance of 264,000 of her OWN constituents.     She's betraying the voters that sent her to Congress.

A simplistic attack on congestion pricing is that the 2025-29 MTA capital plan is still largely unfunded. ~$15B in bond repayments was to be raised by the tolls, paid back over ~15 yrs of collection. Of course a revenue stream tapped for 15 yrs isn’t available 5 yrs in.

It’s like asking why you still need money to renovate the fixer-upper you just bought after using all of your raise from your promotion to buy a house with a 15-yr mortgage: that income is already tapped to pay the mortgage! If you have other new expenses, you’ll need new money.

It also doesn’t account for program costs and mitigations, which I mistakenly assumed were budgeted for elsewhere.

In January, the program raised $37.5 million to repair our public transit! And there are only five days left in February... Excited to see these numbers come in every month!
