So excited to share that Tony- and Academy Award–nominated actor Stephanie Hsu will join Food Tank as Celebrity Guest Emcee for "A Night Honoring Our Farmers" during #ClimateWeekNYC! On Friday, September 26 at WNYC–NPR’s The Greene Space, we’ll spotlight 12 incredible farmers—many stepping onto a stage for the very first time—who have been working closely with dramaturgs to shape and share their personal stories. It’s going to be an unforgettable evening of theater, food, and community. Stephanie’s unforgettable performances in Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Be More Chill, and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical have captivated audiences around the world, and we are thrilled to have her bring that same artistry and spirit to help celebrate the farmers who nourish us every day. This is a deeply special event and a concept we hope to expand across the country—uplifting farmer voices through storytelling, creativity, and connection. In partnership with Niman Ranch and the Broadway Green Alliance. 👉 Learn more and join us: eventbrite.com/e/climate-wee…

🌍👩‍🌾 “Agriculture is more than a sector. It is our survival.” Farmers, ranchers, fishers, and food producers deserve more than a seat in the audience. They must help shape the conversations and policies that impact their lives and our future. In her latest On the Ground reflection from Ethiopia, Dani Nierenberg shares why putting farmers at the table in Addis and everywhere is essential. In Ethiopia meeting with and learning so much from visiting farmers and projects across the country. Agricultural researchers often talk about “participatory research and development” working alongside farmers to design tools, practices, and innovations that actually work in the field. In the past, too much was designed for farmers, instead of with them. In this photo with @CIMMYT visiting conservation agriculture cluster farms of Alazar Shu’ra, Nuge Chamara, Abayneh Tuke, Tuke Shu’ra, Samuel Alazar in Shamana Godo Kebele part of the Sidama region of the country.

I'm in Ethiopia for #UNFSS4, a pivotal moment to assess global progress on transforming our #foodsystems and to push for bold, urgent action toward achieving the 2030 Agenda. The 2025 Stocktaking is spotlighting country-led solutions, tracking global and national commitments, and helping unlock the financing needed to build food systems that are more equitable, resilient, and nourishing. After the conference, I’ll be visiting with farmers and farmers' organizations across the country—exploring incredible examples of agricultural innovation, climate-smart practices, and community-led transformation on the ground. Grateful to be learning directly from the people driving this work forward. #UNFSS4 #FoodSystems #Ethiopia #AgInnovation #SDGs

What if we stopped pretending farmers can fix everything on their own? On this week’s Food Talk with Dani Nierenberg, I sit down with Janie Simms Hipp, CEO of Native Agriculture Financial Services, to talk about food systems that work with farmers—not against them. We’re also breaking down SNAP and Medicaid cuts, Japan’s food waste victories, and what record heat means for EU farms. Listen now: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
