Omg, I've been off Twitter for a while (on purpose), and now realize I was correct in doing so. Did it get worse? 🤦‍♀️

There’s an awful lot of misinformation being spread about the Green Line, so let me lay things out clearly. I know a few critics of this project who could use a refresher.

There’s the price tag on providing @DevinDVote with the opportunity to grandstand for a couple days about the “Nenshi nightmare” — gotta be one of the most expensive soundbites in Canadian politics in a long time
Administration has just confirmed that the costs to wind down the Green Line will exceed $2.1B That's $2.1B (one third of project costs) to get ZERO kilometres of track vs $6.2B to get nearly 10km of track. #yyccc #abpoli #ableg

Here's a peek of the Blue Line this morning heading to City Hall. Standing room only. People pushing to squeeze onto packed train cars. The picture really doesn't do the experience justice. Real people just trying to get to their jobs, to school and to appointments, but our transit expansion is caught up in politics. #yyccc #yyc #ableg

1/This is a thread with facts on how the Green Line project was terminated by the Govt of Alberta on Sept 3. No attempt at a negotiation, just a letter pulling their support & funding. The impact is devastating. I’ll lay out how they are ignoring the facts & what it will cost us.

So, here's the thing. While @ABDanielleSmith says Green Line needs more oversight, the fact is the #greenlineyyc project team was meeting their provincial & federal counterparts on a regular basis so if the premier didn't know what was going on, it's cuz she never bothered to ask
For the "Well I must tell you" crowd... Smith seemed to confirm that her decision to pull funding on the green line was influenced by Jim "Seton Developer" Gray... AND! She's going to want much more command and control over all future projects! #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

And for a transportation ministry that seems to think you can't tunnel downtown, because water, funny how building on a seasonal floodplain in the valley is A-Ok though...🤦‍♀️

Wonder if they've contemplated the need for a fed env assessment re disturbing (more) the fish-bearing stream that is Nose Creek. Seems Wagner CJC just said that would be fine by him.

How to say "I have no clue what people need from transit, but my buddies would like to go to the arena and drink, and not have to get an uber home" without saying it. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🙄😤
NEW: Premier Danielle Smith was asked about Green Line today. Smith gives some insight into how the province is viewing next steps with the project once a third party proposes a new alignment. City council is set to vote on transferring the project to the province next week.

@DevinDVote forgot how much of the expensive bits were dictated by the need to do nothing to inconvenience people in cars. We could make the Green Line cheaper if we go full War on Cars. The GL is expensive because cars are winning the war. x.com/kylegolsen/status/1831…

A big cost driver for greenline was deciding not to disrupt traffic on the cuplet. Without a dedicated ROW the travel time gains were too low to justify even building the ROW at all east of the Elbow iirc the various studies.

Just a reminder that Calgary already has LRT tunnels in it's downtown, with the intention of using them in the future. The argument that downtown can't support tunnels doesn't reflect reality. #yyc #yyccc #ableg Underground City Hall C-Train youtu.be/V7YBZvhVwgk?si=ZkUd… via @YouTube

Just remember the rumors that “There’s not going to be rioting in the north,” if we get shafted, have been greatly exaggerated… 😏
