In Texas, an H-1b family of 4 gets up to 500,000$ in tuition assistance. Seems unbelievable doesn't it? In California it is close to 750,000$. That's because and H4 dependent of an H-1b is eligible for in-state tuition assistance, after 12 months of state residency. And this is true in most US states. It badly impacts State colleges and pushes our US citizens out of state colleges, and into more expensive institutions, which many cannot afford. H4 dependents should go home and get their free education in India. Or they should pay the full ride, just like all the other foreign students on F-1. Absolutely insane that we have allowed this to go on for decades.
