Is #AusDef monitoring the accounts of private citizens? A couple of days ago I made the below comment on this platform and #Defence replied as per below @DavidShoebridge
Replying to @DavidShoebridge
When we questioned ASIO in Senate estimates about why they wanted these expanded powers, what conduct it was intended to cover, their answers were confused and unclear. If anything, they increased my concern about the what they’re doing.

It appears I can't reply only retweet ATM. There is no keyword in my comment that should trigger a needed response by AusDef. I checked their account to ascertain it was legit not a bot. They are followed by numerous defence affiliated groups. #strange
Wow, is about all I have. Staggering & terrifying in equal measure.

🎤 Spice Girls “Wannabe” Parody: “Sloppy Seconds” (AUKUS Edition) (To the tune of “Wannabe” – sing it with maximum sarcastic enthusiasm) Yo, I’ll tell you what we want, what we really really want
So tell me what you want, what you really really want
I’ll tell you what we want, what we really really want
So tell me what you want, what you really really want We wanna (ha), we wanna (ha), we wanna (ha), we wanna (ha)
We wanna really really really wanna sloppy seconds, ah! If you want our future, forget our past
We scrapped the French deal, now we’re moving fast
Don’t go wasting our precious cash
‘Cause we’re Labor legends, we’ll take Uncle Sam’s trash! Number one: we want brand new subs, but nah
Albanese says “Mate, used is where it’s at!”
Richard Marles grinning like he won the lotto
“Three pre-loved Virginias? Beauty, what a bargain, c’mon!” Pat Conroy in the Senate, straight-faced as can be
“We always preferred used ones, don’t you see?”
“They imposed new ones on us… but we fought back
Now we’re over the moon with these hand-me-downs, no flak!” Yo, I’ll tell you what we want, what we really really want
Sloppy seconds from the Yanks, that’s the Labor chant!
We’ll pay top dollar for their seconds, what a steal
While China laughs and our navy tries to keep it real We really really really wanna zig-a-zig… ahhh
(But only if it’s second-hand, no brand new, thanks!) Friendship? Never ends… unless it’s a proper sub
Then we’re happy with the leftovers, give us the rub!
Albo, Marles, and Conroy leading the parade
“Phew! #AUKUS” – settling for seconds, unafraid!” Sing it loud at the next Question Time. 🇦🇺⚓😂 Can’t get the faces just right but here is the Spice Boys : @RichardMarlesMP @PatConroy1 @AlboMP @ScoMo30 #nswpol #auspol #ausdef #ausnavy #YourADF #qt #7News #9News #9Today #9ACA #60Mins #RNBreakfast #abc730 #insiders #4Corners #afternoonbriefing Dump #AUKUS cc @pmc_gov_au

“Marles & Albo– another $53 billion flushed straight into the military-industrial toilet so we can play deputy sheriff for the United States & Israel. Because nothing says ‘caring government’ like telling sick Australians waiting years for public hospital treatment, kids in overcrowded classrooms, families sleeping in cars, and pensioners choosing between food and electricity: ‘Sorry, we need the money to buy more shiny toys for Trump’s demented crusade.’ Trump’s out there cosplaying as the Second Coming while brawling with the Pope and cheering on Netanyahu’s ongoing genocide in Palestine and now Lebanon. Iran? Just the latest brown people getting bullied by the two real demons on the world stage. But sure, let’s tie our entire defence policy to these clowns. China is our biggest trading partner – you know, the country that actually keeps our economy afloat – but nah, better piss them off to impress JD Vance and a guy who thinks he’s Jesus with nuclear codes. $53 billion. That could have lifted every Centrelink payment – JobSeeker, pensions, disability – above the poverty line. Built actual public housing instead of tent cities. Fixed our collapsing hospitals and schools. But no. Priorities. We must be ready to die for warmongers who wouldn’t spit on us if we were on fire. Thanks for nothing, you spineless, AIPAC-adjacent, Washington lapdogs. Australia’s future just got sold for some overpriced American fighter jets and a pat on the head from the Orange Messiah. Dark times when our ‘leaders’ would rather fund endless war than feed their own people.” #nswpol #auspol #ausdef #YourADF #budget #Canberra #SmashTheDuopoly #qt #7News #9News #9Today #9ACA #60Mins #RNBreakfast #insiders #abc730 #4Corners #afternoonbriefing

“Dr John Coyne @johncoyne14 — Director of ASPI’s National Security @ASPI_org Programs and Head of the Northern Australia Strategic Policy Centre. What a tour de force of soothing euphemism in your 7 April 2026 Strategist piece: “It’s in our hands: US military presence in Australia makes us stronger.” aspistrategist.org.au/its-in…🤣 Nothing screams “independent non-partisan think tank” quite like a former AFP intelligence veteran cheerleading for turning the Top End into a Pentagon forward operating base. Especially when ASPI was created by the Australian Government in 2001, still draws core funding from the Department of Defence, and happily accepts sponsorship from the usual suspects — Lockheed Martin, BAE, Raytheon, Thales, Northrop Grumman et al. — who profit from the very upgrades you’re selling. Coyne insists every Tindal runway extension, #Darwin Marine rotation, and new fuel depot is firmly “under Australian law, through Australian approval processes” and within the Defence Cooperation Agreement. We retain the sovereign right to “approve, shape or reject projects,” you see. How delightfully empowering! It’s almost as if the layered bureaucracy of months-long environmental assessments proves we’re in the driver’s seat — never mind that the destination was pre-selected in Washington. Sovereignty concerns? Mere “misunderstandings,” darling. The economic windfall? Glorious construction contracts and “sovereign industrial capability” for NT businesses — while the big-ticket sustainment flows to the usual prime contractors. Cost-sharing with the US will “accelerate delivery.” Translation: a few local crumbs while we foot part of the bill and lend our dirt for someone else’s contingency planning. The pièce de résistance? Coyne urges closer ADF-US coordination so infrastructure isn’t “set largely by US requirements.” Yes, because nothing projects strength like politely begging the world’s premier military power to let us pretend we’re equal partners. Risks — entanglement in a US-China clash, militarised backyards, opportunity costs, self-fulfilling escalation? Not a whisper. Just more balm about how all this “makes us stronger.” This isn’t analysis. It’s corporate HR copy for the military-industrial love-in, complete with the mandatory ASPI flourish: wave away concerns with process jargon, then conclude that deeper integration is essential for our sovereignty. How refreshingly independent. When your funders are Defence and the primes who build the kit, the real “layered system” ensures the narrative never strays from the script. Dr Coyne’s article isn’t in our hands. It’s firmly in the hands of those who pay the piper — and the tune is always the same: keep the bases growing, keep the funding flowing, and keep telling Australians that outsourcing strategic geography to a foreign superpower is the height of patriotic self-assertion. Sovereignty so robust, you can almost hear it saluting the Stars and Stripes.” 🇺🇸 #auspol #nswpol #Canberra #USA #ausdef #YourADF #ausarmy #USAArmy
