🚨 New insights on LV mass and mortality! A large multicentre study of >300,000 echocardiograms reveals that our current thresholds for identifying LV hypertrophy may miss many at-risk patients. 🔍 Key findings: • Mortality risk increases at much lower LVMi values than traditional ASE cut-offs.  ➡️ ≥88 g/m² in men  ➡️ ≥82 g/m² in women • Over 50% of patients fall into these newly defined risk categories. • Results validated in an independent US cohort with no major comorbidities. • Identifying LVH earlier could transform how we approach risk stratification, follow-up, and therapeutic timing. 💡 A call to rethink what we consider “normal” LV mass. #Cardiology #Echocardiography #LeftVentricle #LVH #HeartFailure #RiskStratification #CMR #EchoResearch #JAHA #CardioScience ahajournals.org/doi/suppl/10…

🌟 New insights into cardiovascular proteomics from UK Biobank! A large-scale analysis of nine key circulating proteins — including ACE2, NT-proBNP, BNP, BAG3, NOTCH1, ACTA2 and more — reveals how genetics, lifestyle, medications and disease interact to shape cardiovascular risk. 🔍 Key findings: • Strong associations between protein levels and age, sex, ancestry, lifestyle (alcohol, smoking). • Genetic modifiers identified at GCKR, APOE and SERPINA1, influencing multiple proteins. • ACE2 emerges as particularly important — higher circulating levels were linked with hypertension and type-2 diabetes, yet Mendelian randomisation suggests a protective causal role. • NT-proBNP and BNP correlated with structural heart traits, arrhythmias, and future diagnoses of heart failure and atrial fibrillation, reinforcing their prognostic value. • Individuals carrying pathogenic variants for HCM or DCM showed elevated NT-proBNP, highlighting early biomarker potential. 💡 Why this matters This work enhances our understanding of the biological pathways connecting proteomics, genetics, and cardiovascular disease — and points toward future opportunities for precision medicine, risk stratification, and biomarker-guided therapies. #Cardiology #Proteomics #GenomicMedicine #UKBiobank #CardiovascularResearch #PrecisionMedicine #HeartFailure #Hypertension #Biomarkers #NTproBNP #ACE2 #Genetics #AHA #ResearchUpdate #CardioScience doi.org/10.1161/CIRCGEN.124.…

➰Why Hydralazine Isosorbide Dinitrate Is Specially Effective in Black Patients with HFrEF? 🌀Because this combo restores a failing nitric-oxide (NO) pathway — a pathway shown to be biologically less active in many Black patients with heart failure. 🌀The result? Better vasodilation, improved hemodynamics, and dramatically reduced mortality. 🤹How the Combo Works (Beautiful Synergy):- •🌀Isosorbide Dinitrate → Releases NO → Venodilation ↓ Preload •🌀Hydralazine → Arterial dilation prevents NO breakdown → ↓ Afterload •🌀Together → Enhanced NO signaling → More stroke volume, less congestion, better survival 🤹Landmark A-HeFT Trial (NEJM): •🌀43% ↓ all-cause mortality •🌀33% ↓ HF hospitalizations •🌀Significant improvement in symptoms & quality of life 🌀These benefits were uniquely pronounced in Black patients. 🤹When We Use This Combo: •🌀NYHA III–IV HFrEF in Black patients already on optimal therapy (ACEI/ARB/ARNI β-blocker MRA). •🌀Patients who cannot take ACEI/ARB/ARNI due to renal issues or hyperkalemia. 🤹Clinical Pearl: 🌀This is the only heart-failure therapy with race-specific, trial-proven survival advantage — by correcting the NO-deficiency phenotype. #HeartFailure #Hydralazine #IsosorbideDinitrate #AHeFT #CardioScience #EvidenceBasedMedicine #HFManagement #KriMeeraPharma

🎭Nitric oxide (NO) is a crucial signaling molecule involved in vasodilation, immune modulation, neurotransmission, and mitochondrial function. As we age, NO production naturally declines — contributing to hypertension, atherosclerosis, cognitive decline, and impaired immune response. 🤹Drugs like PDE-5 inhibitors (e.g., Sildenafil, Tadalafil) boost NO signaling by blocking its breakdown, increasing cyclic GMP, and enhancing blood flow. 🫆But why are they mainly used for erectile dysfunction? 🤹Reason: •🌀The penis is a highly vascular organ, and erections are primarily driven by rapid NO-mediated vasodilation. •🌀It’s a clear, measurable, and quick therapeutic response, making ED a suitable FDA-approved indication. •🌀Regulatory pathways and market incentives prioritized sexual health over broader, more complex NO-related diseases. 🎭However, current research is expanding: •🌀PDE-5 inhibitors show promise in pulmonary hypertension, cardiac remodeling, Raynaud’s phenomenon, and even neurodegenerative disorders. •🌀L-arginine, beetroot extract, citrulline, and exercise are non-pharmacologic strategies to raise NO and are often used in aging, performance, and cardioprotection. 🤹Bottom line: Sexual health was just the first stop. NO-based therapies have much broader potential — and research is catching up. #CardioScience #NitricOxide #KriMeeraPharma

High LDL-C drives plaque buildup inside arteries. Clinical trials show that every 39 mg/dL (1 mmol/L) LDL-C reduction lowers major cardiovascular events by ~20–25%. Lower LDL → Less plaque → Fewer heart attacks. #CardioScience #Prevention
