The transition from developing a new concept to bringing it to market, arguably, the most important change in the cycle of innovation. The recognition of Theramir’s funding success is directly linked with Cyprus’ culture- earning €150,000 from the
@ResearchCy to further aid its advancement on RNA-based bladder cancer therapy.
These accomplishments do not solely constitute a success in raising funds, rather they indicate an emerging trend of accepting changes in culture. Our extensive academic sphere is producing an increasing number of startups, demonstrating that scientific achievements are possible, and more importantly, actionable.
But why and how can one achieve this? The answer is both empowering and encouraging the participation of women in science, technology, engineering, and math. Furthermore, Theramir’s leadership illustrates the impact of female scientists and entrepreneurs at the forefront of deep-tech innovation. Supporting women in STEM is much less about equity- it is about enabling endless possibilities in science.
As Chief Scientist, I will take on an active role in this by ensuring knowledge drives innovation and commercialization becomes second nature. The success of Theramir is but one of the numerous successses that lie ahead.
Kudos to Dr.
@MariannaProkopi Theramir's co-founder, along with Dr. Marina Hadjicharalambous Ryder, Project Coordinator.
