Even though DFEV is quite a bit larger-cap, it has tracked AVES pretty closely. AVEE has tracked DEMSX (DGS another good small-value option). Take that for what you will with longer term DFA backtest of DFEVX vs. DEMSX. testfol.io/?s=0hldiA5Lw75

AVES still tilts pretty small (much smaller than DFEV, and much much smaller than overall market), has a bit more value tilt, and given higher trading costs in EM I don't want to focus as much on small-caps, but both look nice. Interestingly AVEE is cheaper than AVES on P/B!

How do you handle emerging markets on the international side? I know DFA tells you to include them, but I have never been comfortable with them. Currently, holding 40% DUHP, 30% DFSV, 30% DISV. In your view, is there a need to move some into DFEV?

Few popular EM funds shown here. AVES is much smaller than DFEV, a bit less cheap on P/B but much cheaper on say EV/EBIT.

idk, I remember it being close but DFEV quite a bit more value-y. Of course am sure it's also less profitable...-y.

Why EM Value? AVES is meaningfully smaller-cap than DFEV. Great product.

This is a non-evidence based portfolio. 1. The first three funds are virtually identical with CoEf. at 90% or greater. 2. Research shows that REITS are not a separate asset class and thus do not need to be held above market weight. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.… To improve this, begin with an evidence based framework that over weights value and small cap around the world, then round it out with high profitability exposure. Example (not a recommendation) : DUHP 35% DFUV 10% DFSV 20% DIHP 10% DISV 15% DEHP 5% DFEV 5% Not Investment Advice.

AVUV, AVDV, AVES Or DFSV, DISV, DFEV Avantis more focused on profitability, DFA more pure P/B. I prefer Avantis.

I think I finally settled on taxable account allocation: 40% $RSSB 40% $VMOT 10% $AVES or $DFEV 5% $BTAL 5% $CAOS Talk me out of it. Trying to balance tax efficiency/diversity/complexity/growth. AVES, or DFEV (or other?) DFEV is larger with lower yields--maybe more efficient.

So yes when you ask me if I prefer something like AVUV, AVDV, AVES vs DFSV, DISV, DFEV/DEHP.. the answer is of course, as what I'm targeting is high factor loadings in an efficient, complete solution. AVUS vs DFAC? Thats a bit harder. I lean towards DFA... FWIW

On value stocks: "While the S&P 500 Index is trading at historically high levels, this is not the case for U.S. value stocks. For example, while the #Vanguard Growth ETF $VUG had a trailing 12-month P/E of about 38, Dimensional's US Large Cap Value ETF $DFLV and its US Small Value ETF $DFSV had trailing 12-month P/Es of about 12 and 9, respectively. The ratio of the growth P/E to the value P/Es is at a historically high level, forecasting a larger-than-historical value premium. Value stocks are also trading at relatively low levels around the globe, as evidenced by the trailing 12-month P/Es of Dimensional's International Value ETF $DFIV, its International Small Cap Value ETF $DISV, and its Emerging Markets Value ETF $DFEV, at about 9, 8, and 7, respectively." #Valuations #ValueInvesting #DFA #StockMarket #SCV

Unfortunately Fidelity only does traditional for solos which is annoying as fuck because I really would just prefer to take the tax hit now That said, there’s no cost at setting it up or keeping it active and I can allocate the money to ANY asset on the open market so I’ve got AVUV, DFEV, DGS, etc. which is a major perk

I’m a huge fan of $AVES as it’s value/profitability composite loads up on earnings based value ratios and quality. $DFEV very similar but loads more on cheap P/B. $EYLD interesting (less tax efficient) with 100 EW names on shareholder yield. $DGS not bad (high yield).
