We are proud to have our Chief of Staff, Romina Mariano, representing the African Clinical Research Network at the Foundational Technical Workshop on Research Preparedness for East & Central Africa, hosted by
#PATH,
@CEPIvaccines and
@AfricaCDC.
Over the next two days, leaders in emergency response, clinical research, surveillance, regulation, and policy are coming together to shape a regional roadmap for rapid, high-quality evidence generation during outbreaks.
Strengthening research preparedness is essential for enabling timely, GCP-compliant clinical trials and real-world evidence studies. Key discussions are focusing on:
• Country research priorities
• Ecosystem gaps and capacity needs
• Regulatory and laboratory readiness
• Operational and coordination models
Romina also had the opportunity to meet Diana Odhiambo, CEO of the
@VIBRIAfrica and connect on shared priorities for advancing research ecosystems in East Africa.
It is encouraging to see such strong commitment to a cohesive and collaborative research landscape for the continent — one that leverages networks, accelerates partnerships, and strengthens our ability to generate evidence when it matters most.
ACRN looks forward to supporting these conversations and contributing to a more prepared and resilient future for outbreak research in Africa.
