Rwanda is strengthening the foundations of its fintech ecosystem.
At
@inclusIFF 2026, Rwanda officially launched the Rwanda FinTech Centre, a one-stop hub designed to coordinate and accelerate the country’s growing fintech sector.
The initiative brings together the Ministry of ICT & Innovation, Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC), the ICT Chamber, the Fintech Association Rwanda, and Luxembourg Cooperation to support innovation and position Rwanda as a launchpad for fintech companies scaling across Africa.
Rwanda’s ecosystem already includes 100 fintech companies, primarily in payments and lending. The new centre aims to support further expansion into areas such as digital banking, insurance, and investment services.
Beyond infrastructure, the centre will also support entrepreneurship fellowships, policy research, and the implementation of Rwanda’s national fintech strategy.
As Hon. Paula Ingabire noted, the initiative is part of Rwanda’s broader ambition to build a vibrant digital economy and strengthen its role as a hub for innovation on the continent.
