The four currencies #gold #silver #cryptos #fiat don't create wealth. You can lend them to earn #InterestIncome but that comes with counterparty risk. If you don't lend them, they are sterile assets. They don't generate cash flow, so they are not an investment and therefore don't create wealth. Rather, they hold wealth in the form of #PurchasingPower which can be used to invest and hopefully create wealth. An individual can become "wealthier" by holding gold when existent purchasing power is moving from dollars to gold. But that is different than saying gold creates wealth. This difference explains #WarrenBuffett's comment that gold is not productive: "Gold itself doesn’t produce anything. It just sits there and stares at you." So gold may not be productive, but millions of people find it useful, which explains why it's near $3800 and likely to become more useful as more purchasing power exits fiat and moves into gold.
Replying to @FGMR
Gold and silver are unique in that they work both as currencies and as investment assets. As currencies they save and transfer purchasing power; as assets they create wealth.

Many ordinary, middle-class #TaxPayers are being unfairly penalised under the current advance tax rules. The problem 👇 Advance #tax instalments (15% in June, 45% in Sept, 75% in Dec, 100% in March) assume income is smooth & predictable. But incomes like capital gains, dividends, or savings bank interest are irregular ,no one can pre-guess them. Yet, if you don’t pay tax on these quarterly, you’re slapped with “interest” u/s 234B & 234C. Even if you pay the entire tax before filing #ITR, you still face these charges. This is not a penalty for evasion, it’s a stealth tax on timing. What needs to change 👇 Exempt capital gains, dividends & SB interest from advance tax instalments. Or at least allow one-time payment by 31 March without extra charges. Why it matters With growing retail investment, lakhs of middle-class taxpayers face this every year. Collecting tax is fair. Collecting “interest” on unpredictable income is not. #AdvanceTax #TaxReform #CapitalGains #Dividend #InterestIncome #MiddleClass #EaseOfTax @IncomeTaxIndia @FinMinIndia @nsitharamanoffc @theicai @AnilSinghvi_ @ZeeBusiness @TaxationUpdates @taxguru_in @_cleartax @grok
