The same way rivers carve canyons and tectonic plates shift continents, your fascia and skin record the micro-tectonics of living. Many universities inaccessible. Accessibility is much more than a ramp for w/c users. . You’ve said your public mtgs are ‘fully’ accessible but now it seems you don’t know what that means. Do you see why disabled ppl should get to speak for ourselves & our own needs yet? 🤷‍♀️

When #ReducedAccess advocates talk about the “disproportionate cost” of installing the few accessible ramps for public transport that exist (many humiliatingly requiring human intervention, rather than being a full piece of infrastructure), they undervalue inclusivity for all.

#ReducedAccess advocates like to portray the planning process as able-bodied vs disabled-as-an-extra-expense. The idea is “some accommodations have already been made, and those weren’t free you know!”. But studies show able-bodied people actually prefer accessible design. 1/

I haven’t come across any places or meetings in UK which are FULLY accessible so I’d love to know where these places are & how they’ve been made FULLY accessible. Maybe AT/ LTN orgs can use them from now on rather than the inaccessible online consultations 🤔🤷‍♀️😯👏#EcoExcluded

The lack of understanding of what accessibility means & how to provide good inclusion, in 2024 is very worrying. Saying a place is accessible without detailing what inclusion provision is in place isn’t really that helpful 🤷‍♀️

Your in person events are ALWAYS accessible, does that mean you hold them in accessible buildings, with accessible Toilet ( with hoist) And you provide BSL, easy to read reports, pictures & maps in accessible formats & inclusive colour ways? Or is it just a place with a ramp 🤷‍♀️

Doing your best without having a phone number excludes anyone facing digital divide. An answer phone service would be better than nothing. Meaning those facing barriers to tech/ online wld get a callback. This is how inclusion works by providing alternatives that include all 🤷‍♀️

A good deal of info is already there in the monitoring reports - you'd have to read the whole thing, though, not just the glowing success story that the front summaries are trying to make of these schemes.

I strongly recommend to start with the Highbury LTNs. As I have the misfortune of living along Blackstock Rd.

Seems like you’ve stumbled across your next project. Mapping LTNs to see how they correspond to wealth, ethnicity, health outcomes, home and car ownership. With oral testimony from those inside and outside. Goldsmiths is down the road from Lewisham’s LTN. Field on your doorstep!

Well similar orgs provided online maps for consultations. They didn’t work on smart phones & increased digital divide. Sadly @Cmnplace @livingstreets ignore the exclusion by design too. These orgs tell us BBH to ‘ask council’. Council that gifted them lots of public £££ 🤔🙄🤷‍♀️
