The opening day of the Bharat Electricity Summit (BES) 2026 was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Sh. Manohar Lal marked the commencement of high-level deliberations on the future of India’s power sector.
Among the key highlights of the day was a strategic session titled “Digital Energy Stack: Building a Secure and Interoperable Backbone for the Modern Grid”, which underscored India’s commitment to a digitally enabled, resilient, and consumer-centric electricity system.
The session brought together senior policymakers, regulators, utility leaders, and industry experts for an insightful exchange. The distinguished panel included Dr. Ram Sewak Sharma, Chairperson, India Energy Stack, Ministry of Power, Sh. Prince Dhawan, Executive Director, REC Ltd, Dr. Ashish Kumar Goel, Chairman, UP Power Corporation Limited; Sh. N. Venu, MD & CEO, India & South Asia, Hitachi Energy, and MD, Hitachi India; Sh. Indu Shekhar Jha, Patron, CIGRE India and former Member, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission. The session was moderated by Sh. Reji Kumar Pillai, Chairman, India Smart Grid Forum.
