Did you know that agriculture employs more than 60 percent of the Rwandan population? 
Yet many households still struggle to access enough nutritious food.
 This shows a gap between the hard work farmers put into the fields and the ability to ensure stable food security at home. Through the @EUinRW-funded KUNGAHARA-FOSTERING Project, implemented by @FXBRwanda in partnership with @E4Impact_Rwanda, farmers are gaining the skills and support they need to close that gap.
 The project provides practical training in sustainable agriculture. 
Farmers learn how to protect the soil, save water, and increase yields using climate-smart techniques. 
They also learn how to reduce post-harvest losses and improve the quality of their produce from the field to the market. The project strengthens market access.
When farmers are connected to reliable buyers and fair pricing, they earn income that allows them to reinvest in their farms and improve their standard of living. 
Strong markets build strong rural economies. Nutrition awareness is a key pillar.
Families are trained on diversified diets, nutrient-rich crops, and healthy feeding practices. 
Better nutrition leads to healthier children and empowered households. Agriculture can do more than feed communities.

RAB DDG @umflora Highlights Rwanda’s Commitment to Reducing Food Losses At the Festival of Cooling held on October 7, 2025, in Kigali, stakeholders discussed how sustainable cooling technologies can reduce post-harvest food losses and strengthen food security across Africa. Speaking at the event, Dr. @umflora Deputy Director General in charge of Agriculture at @RwandaAgriBoard emphasized that while Rwanda still faces challenges in preserving agricultural produce, there is strong progress through ongoing initiatives aligned with the country’s agricultural transformation plans. “Indeed, we still have a long journey ahead in preserving harvests, especially fruits and vegetables, but the technologies showcased here at this festival are part of the solution to reducing post-harvest losses, in line with the government’s five-year plan,” she said. Dr. Uwamahoro also announced that training sessions will be organized for farmers at @ACES_Cooling to raise awareness on proper storage and post-harvest handling. Her remarks align with Rwanda’s Strategic Plan for the Transformation of Agriculture (PSTA 5), which seeks to promote productive, knowledge-based, and environmentally friendly agriculture.
