@antonioguterres @ONU_fr @ONUGeneve @ONUinfo @ISC @AmaneGUERFI #GlobalScience4Policy #ScienceForPolicy #ISC2026 #ISC2026 #ScienceForPolicy #EvidenceForAction #ECOSOC2026 #PartnershipForum #STIForum2026 #ScienceForSDGs #HLPF2026 #SustainableDevelopment #AIGovernance #GlobalDialogueAI #DigitalFutures #UNGA2026 #HighLevelWeek #Multilateralism #COP31 #ClimateAction #ScienceForClimate #UNWater2026 #WaterForFuture #Agir A.G

In Belém I stand with scientists policy makers and frontline communities to demand urgent delivery on climate action that is proportional to the crisis we face. COP30 in Belém is focused on implementation across six action areas including energy forests agriculture cities and water and the Presidency has convened thematic days to translate commitments into tangible outcomes. The science is unequivocal. The world is still tracking far above the 1.5 degree pathway and any further delay will trigger irreversible tipping points for ecosystems and human systems alike. Ghana comes to COP30 with a clear and pragmatic agenda. First we call for a significant increase in climate finance with a far greater share directed to adaptation. Developing countries need predictable concessional finance to protect lives livelihoods and food systems. The Global Center on Adaptation and African negotiators are rightly pressing for a tripling of adaptation finance by 2030 and this must be a measurable COP30 outcome. Second Ghana offers to accelerate the clean energy transition for West Africa. We are ready to scale renewables and to deepen regional grids but this requires concrete technology transfer concessional finance and partnerships that lower the cost of deployment and close the investment risk gap. Ghana will advance proposals for green investment corridors and practical mechanisms to mobilize private capital alongside public finance. Third we place forests and nature based solutions at the centre of our offer. Belém as host is a powerful reminder of the global value of tropical forests and of Indigenous stewardship. Ghana will champion forest finance instruments that link conservation to livelihoods and secure land rights for local communities while unlocking performance based payments that restore landscapes and sequester carbon. Finally Ghana urges COP30 to deliver measurable implementation pathways not only high level statements. We need time bound targets for adaptation finance transparent monitoring of climate flows scaled technical assistance for adaptation planning and clear guarantees for technology transfer. Science demands urgency and justice demands equity. At home we will pursue ambitious national adaptation programmes resilient water management nature based flood and drought solutions and blue economy safeguards for our coastal resources. COP30 must move from promise to delivery. Ghana will work constructively with partners to secure concrete finance commitments practical technology partnerships and forest finance arrangements that produce measurable outcomes for people and ecosystems. We are ready to lead by action and to hold the global community to account for results. #COP30 #Belém #ClimateActionNow #AdaptationFinance #Renewables #ForestFinance #ScienceForPolicy #GhanaAtCOP30
