🌍🚀 Sentinel-1C Launch: CLS teams join in celebrating this success as the prime contractor of the SAR Mission Performance Center. A double victory for Europe: Sentinel-1C and Vega-C reach new heights.

🛰️ CLS welcomes this new launch which complements the Sentinel 1 mission. Since 2012, we have been overseeing the quality control, calibration, and validation of Sentinel 1 SAR sensors within the SAR Mission Performance Cluster (SAR-MPC) as the prime contractor.
In the framework of the
#Copernicus program of the
@EU_Commission, the project ensures that the images provided by the Sentinel-1 SAR constellation achieve the targeted performances for the benefit of their users, and we are very proud to contribute to it.
📊 Each year, no less than 100 ,000 products from Sentinel 1-A, and now C, are received and analyzed by our data analysts.
Sentinel-1C will deliver support across a range of CLS applications:
✅ Sentinel-1C further enhances CLS' Maritime Awareness System (MAS), the complete and real-time picture to monitor maritime activity, with new detection and surveillance capabilities for maritime traffic.
Thus, it plays a important role in
#maritimesurveillance, such as oil spill detection, ship tracking, monitoring illegal fishing activities or the detection and tracking of icebergs threatening the routes of skippers in around-the-world sailing races, such as the
@VendeeGlobeENG currently underway.
✅ Sentinel-1C also strengthens ground monitoring: it is widely used for observing
#grounddeformation caused by subsidence, earthquakes, and volcanic activity to understand Earth's dynamics.
Here again the applications led by CLS subsidiary
@TRE_ALTAMIRA will benefit from the
#Sentinel1-C launch, as TRE ALTAMIRA task operational Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites to acquire images over clients' specific areas of interest, worldwide, to measure ground and structural movements from space. The compelling result will be enhanced capacities for subsidence monitoring of
#infrastructures, such as bridges, ports, highways, and all types of
#civilengineering projects.
