I just did a lot of research into insulating my pole barn for winter and after a LOT of looking, It's seeming like the best approach is to use something like Reflektix or smartSHIELD on both the roof and walls (with an air gap) then painted OSB the walls so the chickens don't peck it, then, if we find we are still losing too much heat, come back later and blow in insulation into the walls maybe some into the ceiling if we can manage The reflektix/smart shield will create a vapor barrier as well, so that should protect the blow in from the moisture of the chickens Long term I want to do louvred vents that can be adjusted, but for now we are just going to enclose the whole overhang gap with hardware cloth and then use insulation/plastic sheeting to cover or uncover that gap as needed to adjust ventilation Heat, where needed, is provided by a wood stove to burn through a bunch of cords of old wood on the property, and a diesel heater as backup for when I don't want to go out there at midnight and restoke the fire
