We’ve moved past the "getting to know you" phase and straight into the "let’s build something real" phase in the EXCEL101 class.
For their first major challenge, the students stepped into the shoes of a Retail Store Manager. The goal? Build a dynamic Inventory & Sales Tracker from scratch.
It wasn't just about typing numbers into boxes.
We pushed the boundaries of:
Data Integrity: Using Data Validation to ensure no "dirty data" enters the system.
Automated Logic: Implementing IF functions so the spreadsheet thinks for itself.
Summary Reporting: Using AVERAGEIF and UNIQUE to turn 20 rows of data into a 4-line executive summary.
The highlight of the weekend? The "Logic Level-Up"
During our correction session, We moved beyond manual inputs. We explored the IFS function to automate stock statuses:
If stock is < 1 Out of Stock
If stock is <= 3 Low Stock
If stock is >4 In Stock
The moment when a cell automatically turns red because the inventory dropped, that’s where the magic happens.
We also bridged the gap between platforms, replicating every move in Google Sheets. Because in 2026, a data pro needs to be platform-independent.
Shoutout to those who stayed late to troubleshoot their sorting arrays an d dynamic sequences.
Week 1 is officially in the books. Next up: Data Cleaning & Advanced Functions. We’re just getting started. 💪📈
