Super excited to share that our systematic review on the facilitators and barriers to blood and blood product accessibility and use in sub-Saharan Africa has just found a home and been published with @FrontiersIn #HealthServices. The concept for this paper was somewhat unconventional, but one that we strongly felt needed to be included in the conversation about blood and blood product access and use on the African continent. It has been a journey, through multiple reviews, drafts, and navigating possible outlets for publication since our first submission in 2024. I am delighted that it is finally being shared with the world! Please read, cite and share this piece of my ❤️ via the following link frontiersin.org/journals/hea… #AdaezeOreh #UniversalHealthAdvocate #SystematicReview #HealthServicesResearch #SubSaharanAfrica #BloodandBloodProducts #LeaveNoOneBehind #BetterHealthForAll #MotionandMovement

New publication accepted in Intelligence-Based Medicine. 📄 AI Under Pressure: Translational Readiness of Predictive Models for Post-Induction Hypotension in Peri-Induction Anesthesia Settings Post-induction hypotension remains one of the most important peri-anesthetic complications, associated with adverse cardiovascular, renal, and neurological outcomes. In this systematic review, we examined the current evidence on AI and machine learning models developed to predict post-induction hypotension and evaluated their readiness for real-world clinical deployment. Key findings: • Reported AUROC: 0.68–0.94 • External validation was uncommon • Calibration reporting was limited • No study had undergone prospective real-time clinical evaluation • Most models remain at an early translational stage The message is clear: AI models show promise, but substantial work remains before routine bedside implementation. 🔗 doi.org/10.1016/j.ibmed.2026… #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #MachineLearning #ClinicalAI #HealthcareAI #Anesthesiology #PerioperativeMedicine #DigitalHealth #MedicalResearch #SystematicReview #MedTwitter #AcademicMedicine

📣I’m pleased to share our latest publication in @FrontNeurol Frontiers - Neurology (@FrontiersIn ): “A Systematic Review of Penetrating Injuries to the Superior Sagittal Sinus Across Two Centuries” 👉🏾Penetrating injuries involving the superior sagittal sinus are rare but potentially devastating, often associated with massive hemorrhage, intracranial hypertension, and significant neurological morbidity. 👉🏾Despite nearly 200 years of reported cases, management strategies remain heterogeneous and are largely guided by individual experience. 👉🏾In this systematic review, we analyzed 51 reported cases published between 1826 and 2025, examining mechanisms of injury, anatomical involvement, surgical management, reconstruction techniques, and patient outcomes. 👉🏾Our findings highlight how injury location, mechanism, and timely intervention influence prognosis, while also illustrating the evolution of venous sinus repair strategies over time. 👉🏾Although modern techniques increasingly favor tailored combinations of direct repair, reconstruction, and selective ligation, a standardized management paradigm has yet to emerge. 👉🏾Read Full Text Here: frontiersin.org/journals/neu… #Neurosurgery #Neurotrauma #TraumaticBrainInjury #SystematicReview #VenousSinusInjury #SuperiorSagittalSinus #FrontiersInNeurology #Research

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4021… ASSOCIATION BETWEEN ANIMAL PROTEIN INTAKE AND OVERWEIGHT/OBESITY: A SYSTEMATICREVIEW AND META-ANALYSES OF OBSERVATIONAL STADIES. Liliana Paula Bricarello et al. Nutr Metab Cardiovasc Dis . 2025 Aug. Objectives: To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies to examine the association between animal protein intake (API) and overweight/obesity in different age groups. Data synthesis: This review is registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews - PROSPERO database (CRD42023467451). Observational studies on the association between API and the outcome of overweight/obesity from ten databases were included as of September 2024. Risk of bias and study quality assessment were assessed using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) tools for cross-sectional studies and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) for cohort studies. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted with 14 and 11 studies, respectively, evaluating individuals aged 8 to 89 years, 55% women. The meta-analysis indicated an increased likelihood of obesity with API in two cross-sectional studies (OR 1.18; 95% CI 1.12–1.24; p < 0.001; I2 : 0%). Daily animal protein intake in the range of 44.7 to 67.8 g/day (or an average of 8.8% to 11.4% of kcal/day) was associated with obesity.
