It’s Figure-It Friday 🧩✨ What if raising a concern was as simple as speaking in your own language? Bimla is helping her mother discover a voice-first public service platform powered by multilingual AI. Citizens can submit their grievances using natural voice or text in any of India's 22 scheduled languages, without navigating complex forms or needing to identify the correct government department. The platform understands the issue, asks relevant follow-up questions, assists with categorization, and helps connect citizens to the appropriate government office. By making public services more accessible through voice and language technology, it helps bridge language, literacy, and digital access barriers for citizens across the country. ✨ Can you guess which initiative Bimla is exploring today? 👀👇 Hint: AI-powered multilingual platform enabling citizens to register and track public grievances using voice and text. #FigureItFriday #BHASHINI #DARPG #LanguageAI #VoiceFirst #DigitalIndia #CitizenServices #InclusiveAI #MultilingualIndia #PublicServices @GoI_MeitY @narendramodi @PMOIndia @AshwiniVaishnaw @JitinPrasada @SecretaryMEITY @amitabhnag @spalsi @_DigitalIndia @DPIITGoI @OfficialINDIAai @mygovindia @RajbhashaVibhag @HMOIndia @AmitShah @Zoho @amitabhk87 @OfficialINDIAai @startupindia @NICMeity @ndtv @republic @DDNational @EconomicTimesAI @EconomicTimes @PIB_India @ETNOWlive @DrJitendraSingh @DARPG_GoI @ANI @CNBCTV18News

Voice is emerging as the most natural interface for digital public services. Today, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) launched the CPGRAMS Voice enabled Chatbot, powered by BHASHINI, to make grievance redressal more accessible, inclusive, and citizen-centric. Built on a voice-first approach, the chatbot enables citizens to navigate their grievance journey through simple voice or text interactions in 22 Indian languages. Powered by BHASHINI's AI driven language technologies and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), the platform allows users to seek information and file public grievances in the language they are most comfortable with. By using voice as the medium, this initiative helps bridge the language divide, digital divide, and literacy divide, ensuring that access to government services is not limited by language proficiency, digital skills, or literacy levels. As India advances towards inclusive digital governance, voice-enabled multilingual technologies are creating new pathways for citizen participation, making public service delivery more accessible to every citizen, regardless of language or background. #CPGRAMS #DARPG #VoiceFirst #DigitalIndia @Gol_MeitY @narendramodi @AshwiniVaishnaw @DrJitendraSingh @svoruganti1466 @Bhupendrapbjp @JitinPrasada @SecretaryMEITY @amitabhnag @spalsi @_DigitalIndia @OfficialINDIAai @mygovindia @RajbhashaVibhag @HMOIndia @AmitShah @Zoho @MinOfCultureGoI @amitabhk87 @OfficialINDIAai @startupindia @NICMeity @WadhwaniAI @wadhwanif @BMGFIndia @ndtv @republic @DDNational @EconomicTimesAI @EconomicTimes @PIB_India @nvidia @startupindia

Day 1 of the @ICT4DConference Happening in Nairobi, Kenya, was electric as tech leaders and development practitioners gather to shape the future of digital development and responsible AI! The Welcome Addresses The conference kicked off with a powerful call-to-action on localizing digital public infrastructure. @NoraLindstroem (Senior Director of Digital Programming at Catholic Relief Services), alongside representatives from the Nairobi City Government, officially welcomed global delegates and set an urgent tone: we must move past just collecting data and focus on using it responsibly to drive real local action. The main plenary keynote set the stage on a critical theme: AI and the Power Dynamics in Development and Humanitarian Response. Global tech and development pioneers took the stage to challenge the industry, stressing that inclusive technology must be intentionally designed to empower marginalized communities and shift traditional global funding dynamics. Following the opening plenaries, the floor opened for interactive tracks. As an exhibitor, the @equalyz_ai team is officially locked in! We are excited to dive into the Tripartite Impact Model during the breakout session. Our Workshop “Data Agentic AI and Digital Public Infrastructure for Local Impact: A Tripartite Impact Model for Digital Transformation in Low-Resource Context.” sparked an incredible insight. The Lightning Talks by Diana Sang on governance and last-mile decision-making in agentic AI, Dr. Elizabeth Wamicha, PhD Call on Digital Public Infrastructure as a backbone for coordinated public action, and Alfred Ongere @Impact_chaser submission on leadership-driven AI upskilling, together reinforced that impactful AI systems are not just built but intentionally governed, connected, and led to achieve real-world public impact. Day 2 of the conference promises to be greater. Are you on the ground in Nairobi? Visit us at Table 7, of the Exhibition ground. Yaaku is currently critically endangered, with fewer than 10 fluent elders remaining. During the early 20th century, the Yaaku underwent a rapid social shift, adopting the pastoralist lifestyle and the language of the dominant Maasai people. This created a "linguistic takeover" where the younger generations stopped learning Yakunte entirely to gain better social and economic standing within the Maasai community. The Yaaku were traditionally hunter-gatherers and master beekeepers, because their lives revolved around the forest. The Yaaku language contains a hyper-specialized vocabulary for biodiversity. Linguistically, Yaaku belongs to the Cushitic family, making it related to languages like Somali or Oromo. However, it is so distinct that it stands as its own branch. It features a complex system of noun suffixes that indicate not just numbers, but the specific relationship between the speaker and the object. For a language like Yaaku, the traditional Big Data AI is useless. There are no massive archives of Yakunte text to scrape. This is where the @equalyz_ai approach changes the narrative: Voice-First data collection and developing tools that recognize their unique speech patterns. When we lose a language like Yaaku, we don't just lose words, we lose a specific way of seeing the natural world. @africalanguage @AfricaAIForum @AfricanLanguag4 @AfricaAI_ @AfricaAIA @AISafari @The_EastAfrican #EndangeredLanguage #Yaaku #LinguisticSovereignty #IndigenousKnowledge #EqualyzAI #VoiceFirst #EcoLinguistics

The WSJ says voice-first work is "way more annoying." I say it's way overdue. Offices are starting to sound like sales floors. People are whispering to their computers, strapping on gaming headsets, buying gooseneck mics. Reid Hoffman calls himself "voicepilled." Developers are walking around their offices talking instead of typing. Welcome to my world. I've been using voice as my primary input for years. Not as a workaround. As the most natural, efficient way to think out loud and get things done. Voice isn't a hack. It's how humans communicate best. The awkwardness people feel right now? That's just the gap between what's new and what's normal. The BlackBerry looked weird once too. What excites me most isn't the cultural shift. It's the hardware and software innovation that will follow. Better microphones. Smarter ambient AI. Devices designed from the ground up for voice intent, not keyboard workarounds. Voice first isn't a trend. It's the direction. The question is whether we build the technology to meet everyone there, including the people who've needed it longest. wsj.com/tech/typing-is-being… #VoiceFirst #InclusiveDesign #Accessibility #AIInnovation #FutureOfWork #MultimodalAI #HumanCenteredDesign #VoiceTechnology

Sellers told us the listing form was still too much work. So we fixed it in a day. Context: we already built voice descriptions so sellers can describe their animals in local languages instead of typing in French. That solved one barrier. Then pioneers started using it — and the feedback came back: "The description is easy now. But all the other fields? Breed, age, weight — I don't want to fill all that in." Fair enough. So we trained an AI to analyze the animal photo. The seller takes a picture. The AI reads it — estimates breed, approximate age, weight range, visible health markers. Pre-fills the details. The seller reviews and taps "Apply." One photo. One tap. Listed. Built it. Tested it. Shipped it. One day. This is what building with your users looks like. They don't file feature requests. They show you where the friction is, and you remove it before they ask twice. @Replit @amasad @MannyBernabe @raymmar @ZergGirrl @mattyp #BuildingInPublic #WestAfrica #Sahel #Fintech #LivestockTrade #AI #VoiceFirst
