Violent Surge: Since 2008, violent crime in Douglas County has skyrocketed by 477%, while Adams County has seen a 133% increase. Human Trafficking Crisis: Under the current administration, human trafficking has exploded by a staggering 304% over the last decade. The Cost of Failure: Crime now costs every Coloradan an average of $4,627 per year—a total $27 billion tax on the people caused by failed public safety policies. Prioritizing Politics Over People While other states are cleaning up their streets by enforcing the law, Colorado Democrats have turned our home into a playground for criminals. The “yes” votes voted to downgrade “extreme indifference” murders like spraying bullets into crowds, drive-bys, or reckless shootings that only kill one person from first degree murder (life without parole) to second degree (24 to 48 years, parole possible). You don’t get to fail an entire district and then accuse challengers of “playing games” because they are finally showing up to do what you refused to do: fix it. “Playing games,” rather, is having your henchmen try to scare constituents away from other candidates by attaching simplistic party labels to them. District 46 in Brooklyn is not suffering from a lack of party labels. Under Mercedes Narcisse’s four years of “leadership,” it is suffering from a lack of outcomes. Half our kids can’t read and write at grade level; shops are closing because crime is out of control; and voters have no say about toxic or dangerous facilities built in their midst.
