Did you hear that Stewart Cheifet, host of the TV show "Computer Chronicles," passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 87? Did you also enjoy watching this show? As the longtime host and creator of The Computer Chronicles, he brought the excitement of the early PC era into living rooms for nearly two decades. For Commodore fans, his show was gold: iconic episodes featured the Commodore 64 (the machine that introduced computing to millions), the groundbreaking Amiga vs. Atari ST showdown, the Commodore 128, and later Amiga models like the 3000. Stewart (often alongside co-host Gary Kildall) showcased demos, interviews with Commodore execs, even Jack Tramiel, and the revolutionary multimedia capabilities that made the Amiga a legend. In the USA, Commodore and Amiga were ignored by the press. However, Stewart highlighted Amiga when many others wouldn't. Thanks for chronicling that magical time, Stewart. Your calm, insightful style preserved computing history for all of us. RIP. #ComputerChronicles #Commodore

Very sad to hear about Stewart Cheifet. I never saw Computer Chronicles in the UK, but now have, giving me an understanding from before I had a PC. Here is Papyrus Showing off NASCAR Racing on CC (1994) youtu.be/ipYjuxm-2Iw #simracing #retrogaming #nascar #computerchronicles

Working on restoring some #ComputerChronicles footage for an upcoming video, and thought I found a promising model for upscaling. It looked great... until I noticed it mistook VHS noise for facial stubble, and gave Stewart @cheifet a 5 o'clock shadow! Back to the drawing board.

Um, something about toxic masculinity I never knew - apparently in the late 80s, early 90s, "real men" wouldn't use computer mice? I've cued this link up to the part of the conversation where they mention it. youtube.com/watch?v=Vai9bdnwโ€ฆ #computerchronicles

Watching old #ComputerChronicles episodes on youtube. The episode featuring the new 386 processor is a gem: "This is not just hype, Stewart. This is a quantum leap in personal computers." If a quantum is a small increment in energy wouldn't a quantum leap be a small change?
