If the chances that we live in a simulation are near 100%, why is building physical hardware still such a grueling challenge? This isn't a bug—it's a core feature. 1. Physics as Hardcoded Rules: In a simulation, the laws of physics aren't suggestions; they are rigid processor instructions. Matter is condensed information that resists us because we are operating within an "engine" where we don't have root access. 2. Hardware is the Proof of Truth: In the digital realm (software), you can generate infinity. In the physical realm (hardware), every logic error results in failure, friction, or explosion. Hardware is brutal because it does not forgive errors. 3. The Civilization Filter: The difficulty of manipulating matter acts as a "progress suppressor." It prevents us from too quickly reaching a level where an individual could threaten the stability of the entire simulation. Building hardware is the only way to "ping" the boundaries of the system. 𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 (𝗠𝗟 𝗣𝗟𝗘) Pleased to share that my latest article, “Machine Learning Product Line Engineering: A Systematic Reuse Framework”, is now published in Machine Learning and Knowledge Extraction journal (Q1). lnkd.in/eajnCGyv 🔍  𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗠𝗟) is increasingly used across domains, yet its reuse practices remain fragmented, ad hoc, and narrow in scope. Most efforts focus on pretrained models or isolated datasets. In contrast, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗣𝗟𝗘) offers systematic reuse at scale but is not equipped to handle the data-driven, iterative nature of ML systems. 💡To address this gap, we introduce 𝗠𝗟 𝗣𝗟𝗘, a novel unified framework that extends PLE principles to machine learning. It supports variability-aware reuse across the entire ML lifecycle, including datasets, pipelines, models, and hyperparameters. We also introduce the concept of 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 to assess the maturity of ML assets and guide their systematic reuse.
